Doing some maintenance on my recently acquired 240z. Noticed the chain has some movement. Can move in and out about 3/4 inch. See video. The spring on the chain tensioner moves and takes up slack when release (has been sitting so no oil pressure). Would imagine would be tighter as oil pressure builds. I know the Datsun Roadster U20 has big problems with chain slap on start up and most folks (including me) shim the tensioner shoe so very little slack even without oil pressure. Do folks do that on 240z motors as well and do they have the same issues? Do you use washer shims or an adjustable tenioner? Seen some advertised but they are pricey compared to the stock ones.
