Well, pretty decent of you, I guess. I'm sure it made him happy to get his baby back.

I did that once with my car and it drove me nutZ for 23 years until I could find it and buy it back again.

Prices for 1970 Zs have gone thru the roof during the past year. Almost anything that runs is bringing $15,000-$20,000, and really good examples are bouncing btwn $30,000 and $60,000. Some sensational individual cars are up toward the 6-digit neighborhood, now that they have become bonafide 50-year-old classic cars. This was the first year they began holding Concours d'Elegance competition for the 240Z. Several of us attended the very first one ever, up in Lake George NY last month.

There were only about 10,500 real 1970 cars made (Including about 500 cars made in 1969), and today there are certainly fewer than 2,000 of them left. Many aficionados feel there are probably fewer than 1,000 of them remaining.

I think yours was a really late honest-to-goodness Series-1 car, made during the final days of the first actual year of production (was it an Aug or Sep? I don't recall. Late, I remember). That would have given your particular car all the upgrades ever made to the original 1970 cars, enhancing the value and probably lowering the miles, while still maintaining the bragging rights of having a first-year 240Z.

That man surely should add you to to his permanent Christmas card list for the rest of your lives! :D

Anyway, you're still our member. You can't quit a free Club. And our annual free picnic is scheduled for next Saturday, if you're not doing anything. You can drive up in the Ford and bring the family. Free hotdogs.
