Hi John! Welcome! You're already a member of the Club, just by registering with us. We have another member in Shelton (Irv Rich). Maybe you've met him?

What a BEAUTIFUL ZX! Absolutely stunning! I think that's one of the best color schemes I've ever seen on any ZX car. Wow. Be sure to enter that in our Annual Z Car show next month! Lots of people will want photos of it.

How did you hear about us, and what features does your Z have?

Hi frank. The whole z scene is new to me. I have three camaros which I been around most of. I just purchased the z for the simple reason of great childhood memories of when my uncle had his 83. That an there real cool looking lol. Not sure what option comes with the car that would stand out from a regular z

That year had either a digital dash or a standard analog unit, with or without "Betty", the female voice which replaced our wives by telling us everything we were doing wrong ("door is ajar" "fuel is low" "seatbelts are unbuckled" "you need a shave", whatever), leather or cloth interior and a couple transmission options.

The earlier Zs (first generation "S30" cars) started out as lightweight sportscars, but soon morphed into the heavier, smoother, more luxurious Gran Turismo cruisers which had very low aerodynamic drag (your car), far better fuel mileage (your car), much more luxurious seats (your car), T-top and sunroof options, wheel options, electric windows, seats and mirrors, fancy sound systems, freeze-you-out air conditioners, fuel injection and computers to tell you what's going on in your world.

In case nobody has ever pointedly told you, the Datsun/Nissan Z car is the automotive world's BEST-SELLING sports/GT car ever. They were the very first marque to ever sell 500,000 units in the first 10 years of production, first to ever sell 1,000,000 units in the first 20 yrs of production, and have set the all-time highest sales figures for personal sports/GT cars in the world. They are, simply stated, the world's most-popular sports car (even with the production gap we suffered thru btwn the 300ZX and the 350Z). That's even more sensational when you consider that other popular sports cars (such as Mercedez Benz, Ferrari, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Corvette, Alfa Romeo, Thunderbird, Cobra, Triumph, Maserati, Fiat, etc) began being sold decades ahead of the introduction of the Z car, so some of them had 20-30 years' head-start on us. The Z has surpassed every sales figure of every sports/GT car in the world and continues to garner strong admiration and lust from upcoming generations of gear heads.
Everybody has a Z story.
You've choZen well. 8)

good info Frank. The z has the standard analog gauges and no betty lol (was thinking of putting it in since my uncles z had it, just not sure how hard it would be or if its even worth doing) the seats are cloth/leather with the 280zx monolog into the top portion of the seats. Has full power and ac. The previous owner removed the stock radio on installed a cd player so i might be looking for a stock radio also

Hey Frank what is the "slick top" mean. The guy i bought it from called it a slick top. Does he just mean a hard top compaired to a t-top or sunroof version

Post subject:  Re: New member from Shelton, CT

Yep ~ slick top refers to a hardtop without glass in it, but in certain years that also referred to a roofline which was shorter than other options.

I don't see anything wrong with this car! It looks immaculate! No rust, dents or dings anywhere in the pictures. Wow.

You really need to bring this beauty to our car show next month.

Wow.

Then enter it in the 'Daily Driver' category.

I just noticed what a slick treatment that front 'park bench' bumper finally received...

Z ya there

Yeah, that spacer btwn the park bench and the car nose made a LOT of difference in the overall appearance. They should have made that standard on all the cars.
