I have had my 84 300zx for about 3 years now. Been in storage for almost 2. I am getting ready to pull it out and do some repairs on it. It is a 84 NA bone stock, with digi dash. I just stumbled onto here via z31performance. The clutch hydraulics need to be replaced, as does the dash power module. Hope fully she will be on the road in a month or so.
Hope to meet and see some of your cars in the future.

I do have a question, anyone in the area know of a place to get t-top seals, door seals, and trunk seals? How about the leather seat repairs?

Thank you

Hi AJ, welcome aboard! Would enjoy zeeing some pictures of your Z and hearing some of your experiences with it so far. Glad you found us ~ we're always happy to meet new Z lovers.

There are plenty of 300ZX cars in here and our members who own them will certainly know the best places to shop for zx-specific goodies.

Our next meeting is right around the corner, and you don't have to drive your Z to get there, you can come in your daily driver if you wish.

Hope to meet you soon!

Frank T

Thank you! I dug up some pictures of the year I bought it. I will put some up. I am excited to try and get it going this year. Finally found a new place to work on it, my apartment won't let me do it here.

That DigiDash and electronics package was a $1,000 option back in the day. Do you have "Betty's" voice, who yells at you when something is wrong?

I did forget to mention that I am the second owner. The first was my step father. The car came from California. Sadly I got none of the service records. I did get a factory manual and all the orig. sales stickers and the sales brochure.

If your Owner's Manual contains a cardboard keypunch data card with a lot of slots punched in it, that's your car's service record. It used to be the early computer data for everything Datusn/Nissan did to your individual car.

Hi! Welcome to the z31 club! Nice looking car you have there.

I am not sure of where to track down those seals, I am sure they are around somewhere.

If you replace the clutch hydraulics, I recommend deleting the clutch damper. More details here:

I believe Justin was referring to the generation of Z that he and AJ own - 'Z31' refers to the 1984-1989 300zx.

I did see that before, and was planning on taking out the damper. Thank you for the tip though. I got rained out today for a chance to play with it, hopefully next weekend.

I love the 80's interiors!
My cousin had a 85 turbo he got new.
I used to drive it around when I was a teenager.
Good luck with it.

Amen on the interiors.

For those who might not know, the Datsun/Nissan Z cars are the best-selling Sports/GT cars in the world's automotive history. They sold 500,000 units in their first 10 years, and a million units in less than 20. No other sports or GT cars have EVER done that, and most of them (Jaguar, Austin Healey, Aston Martin, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Corvette, MG, Triumph, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, FIAT, etc) had been in business for decades before the Z came along. Some of them STILL haven't sold their 1,000,000th car.

The early 240Z was an instant smash hit due to its lightweight, good performance, smashing good looks and low price. It was the best bang-for-the-buck sports car you could buy back in the day. It evolved into the classy ZX GranTouring cars which, year after year, provided drivers with more and more luxury and sophistication, still for a lower price than you'd pay for other GT cars of the day. I've sat in some ZX cars which had velour interiors, leather interiors, cloth interiors, and just SANK into deep comfort. The drivers seat is firmer than the passenger seat ~ go find another GT car which does that at a Z price.

Your ZX interior helped keep the Z alive for a full generation. When the general USA cars were all beginning to look alike and devolve into 4-cylinder fuel sipping boring boxes, the ZX cars were improving every year, with plusher interiors and increased turbo performance.

Dollar for dollar, year after year, nothing beat a Z car.
