Hey everyone! I just wanted to say hello and share my excitement for being part of this nice community. I've been admiring the Z cars since the early '70's when I was a little kid. My friends and I would be riding our bikes and yell out, "there goes a 240Z!" The 240Z's always stood out in my mind, and I am glad to say that my time to own one, has finally come....

Well, that day came this past Sunday, and I'm now the proud new owner of a 1973 240Z manufactured 11/72. The story is this - Original owner, Chet Helmer, bought the car new in 1973 in California.  Drove the car daily and kept it immaculate until his death 27 years later, when he passed it on to his nephew, Pat Helmer, living in San Antonio, TX.  Pat kept the car for a few years and sold to Sandra Lawton in 2005. (Pat then bought a brand new 350Z).
Dealer installed options include stripe (painted, not decal), side view mirrors and bumper over riders.
Original equipment includes:  paint, emblems, bumpers, interior carpets, shift boot, gauges, clock(working), radio, console, dash board, spare tire and tool box items (never used), service warranty booklet, owner’s manual & factory service manual.
Engine has never been overhauled.
American Racing Equipment wheels installed new in 1973.
Original owner had custom seat covers made.
Car was the Winner of NISMO award given by Japanese delegates at the 2002 National ZCCA convention Show in recognition of Originality and Overall Condition.
Visor is signed by Mr. Katayama, Japanese designer of the 240Z.
Never been on salt roads, stored in heated garage.

I plan on taking it to Bedini Motorsports ASAP to be throughly checked out.

Welcome ZZZPit,

I was drooling all over my keyboard as I read that! What a great story!

We're a club of all models, but I'd say that the older S30s have a special spot here in the club. You just don't see them that often in the Northeast, so we try to keep what we have goin' strong.

Before you know it, you'll have other members hootin' and hollerin' asking about your Z, so hang tight, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride, you've landed in the right spot!

If you have a camera/ any pics of your Z, please feel free to upload pics on here. If you need instructions on how to do so, don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you for the Welcome! I tried to upload photos from my Mac. When I hit the upload tab, the message I received was empty file.

Please advise

What a cool story! Another literal "childhood Z Dream" come true!
WELCOME, Z-Pit ~ I'm sure I'm not the only one your story brought a smile to. The fact that you know your Z's 41 year history is remarkable, as well. Most of us wish we could say the same about ours.

Our Director of Membership is absolutely correct ~ if you love or own a Z, this is the right place for you. I think you might be the first member from Southbury (not sure) but we do have members living close to you and I suspect you're about to make some new lifetime friendships. We're very friendly in this Club, and life's all about the carz.

Your intention to visit Vinny is an excellent choice. Be adviZed he's unlikely to let you out of his speed shop until your car is safe to drive. It's sort of a "pit stop" there, where your chief mechanic won't let you back out onto the track until he knows your car is safe. He did all that to my 240 and probably saved my life. There were hidden problems which could have been disastrous had I just driven the car as planned.

Coming from California and Texas, your car must be a rust-free beauty. Several of our members have bought cars from that region, and received outstanding examples of original survivors. I'm sure you're going to be very very happy with your 240Z.

What a great way to start the 2013 Zeason, huh?

Welcome, again ~ can't wait to meet you in person and zee your Z.

Frank T

Ahh yes, "Tried to upload an Empty File". How familiar I am with that!

When I get that message (about twice a week) it means I took photos with a digi cam which I did not "introduce" to my computer properly. I have thousands of photos and can look at them myself, but I can only share those which I took after I inserted the start-up disc from each camera I used.

If your computer isn't 'married' to your digicam, you can't share pics. You have to load the intro disc from each camera you use, in order to do anything with the pictures you take with them.
At least that's how I undrsntnd it.

BTW, what's your first name?

Frank

Gawsh!!! I'm in love!

With that stripe kit on it, it looks a lot like Thor's 240Z in Germany. Different wheels, tho.

Now I can zee the significance in your screen name ZZZPit! Cool. 8)

Really glad to have this beauty among our stables, Mike.
