PS ~ that driver's side door weather trim looks suspicious. I don't think it's supposed to hang down like that....? Big deal ~ a tube of weather stripping cement costs about $3.

Thanks Revered, I plan on her being mine in about 2 weeks!

Frank, I'm not sure what you are talking about, can you direct me to a specific picture? Thanks!

Nevermind, I think I got it Frank. Are you talking about where the door meets the dashboard? The sagging? I hadn't noticed. Glad you did.

Sorry Filipe ~ I sort of went to bed without saying g'night

Yeah, that weather stripping at the driver's side dashboard looks like it could use some attention. That's not uncommon for cars which spend a lot of time in hot storage, not opening and closing the doors. No big thing.

Not sure its hanging down Frank, looks like there is a black filler piece along the frame side door opening.

I'm not sure either. I could just wait two weeks, but I'm going to do some Google Image searching.

Phil, what's your ZXT look like? Is that weather stripping supposed to be like that? Looks like it has fallen off the door frame and is hanging down, but if it intentionally follows the contour of the dashboard, all is well.

Like I said, I'm an older Z guy. I have enough trouble just keeping the water out of my 240.

Haha, no worries! My Z is already with me. :) You can see it here http://forums.ctzcc.com/viewtopic.php?t=6690

The Z looks good! Everything looks original from my eye. I am still learning about the Z31 so I don't have much advice to offer, but the car is fun to drive!

Be sure to ask if the previous owner has changed the timing belt. The manual states it should be done every 60k. If they don't know or it's been a long time, then I would recommend getting it changed as soon as you can (and do the waterpump while you're at it).

Secondly, look at the rear camber on the back wheels. I found that I have a fair amount of negative camber on the rears, which is an indicator of worn rear suspension. I think it's a normal thing for these cars at its age, but something to think about replacing if you get the car. I am not sure exactly what makes the rear sag... I have read that the springs can be the culprit or some of the bushings (nothing costly).

Have you test-driven it yet?

I have driven my Z31 in the rain and through a car-wash and the TTops don't leak. I will try to snap a photo of how it fits tonight for you to compare.

EDIT: Was working until very late... I will swing by the garage and snap a photo or two in the morning.

Found the answer I was looking for...If you click on the link below it will redirect you to a listing. In the pictures you can find a left and a right picture of the door hinge area. The weather stripping is like that on both sides.

Thanks jtang. Yes the owner took very good care of it. One family vehicle! Timing belt has been changed, so that's off the list. Don't know much about a/the water pump though.

Camber is when the inside or outside of the tire is more worn than the other side, correct?

Unfortunately, I am away at college right now, so I haven't even seen it in person yet. I will on April 14th...having a hard time focusing on homework instead of this beauty.

Here are the photos I took this morning.

Good that the timing belt has been changed! I think the waterpump should be okay (it is rated to last longer than the timing belt but many people just change them at the same time since you have to remove the same stuff to get there).

Yes extreme camber will wear one side of your wheel. Negative camber will wear the insides, positive camber will wear the outsides. On my Z you can actually see the wheel slanted if you look from the back. I've attached an image. Not too big of a deal, though.

Phil, I had not seen that Z!

Thanks for posting! I will read over it again, and probably give the owner a call. That frame rail does scare me though.

We'll see. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks!

Filipe
