I dropped by the club's last couple of annual meetings and finally decided to join. I've owned this car for 30 years. Not quite a "daily" driver, but out most days unless it's raining or snowy - I guess that's how it survived. It's what you would term a "good 20 footer". Original and it very good condition with 108k.
Sold my Mach 1 Mustang to buy this. Wanted a car that could make it around a corner.
Remember how great cars were on 1980? The Renault Le Car was the Motor Trend car of the year. Most people were driving the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. What a bunch of dogs.
I bought it from the widow of the 34 year old owner who dropped dead shoveling snow in Queens. Worried that the car was unlucky, but far from it. Amazingly reliable.
Started replacing a few odd bits over the past few years, but nothing serious. Driving is entirely suburban short trips in and around Westport. Nevertheless, the clutch is original as are all the important parts. The 2+2 got the heavy duty clutch!
Had a couple of run-ins with dopes running lights, etc., so much of the paint is not original unfortunately.
Went by the Darien Nissan dealer to drive the 370Z, but it won't hold all of my golf gear - so once again the car stays with me!

Oh, Mannnnn......I had successfully forgotten all about the Renault LeCar  !!!
And I was in SUCH a good mood. :?

Welcome Phil ~ We figure you must somehow be related to our Club Photographer, since you share the same car and name.

Hope to meet you in the near future. In the mean time, feel free to post a few pictures of your Z for us to lust over.

Frank

Bienvenue... Great choice a Renault 280ZX 2+2

Renault Le Car

My mam had 2. The first when she was living in France and the second when she moved over to Cincinnati. She had to buy a Honda Accord because most of her American friends wouldn't dare to sit in a such a small car

Amazing how 2 cars could be so different from one market to the other.

That's not Mom's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mpkVfdA ... re=related
