Hello everyone my name is Bobby. I am 31 years old from RI and joining this club with my Father who is also named Bob. For my entire life on this planet my Father has had this fasination with the Z cars which has rubbed off on me. Currently he ownes two Z cars a 2004 350z, and we recently purchased a 1972 240Z with 54,000 original miles from Tampa FL.

Because my Father does not own or even know how to turn on a cumputer I will be the guy to talk with lol. But I do feel the need to tell the story of my Father's love for these cars as he has owned 5 in my life time. Boy do I wish we had all five lol. Anyway my Father bought his first Z a 1970 240z in 1971. He always talked about this car and how it rotted away and he had to finally get rid of it in 1977 when my Mother was pregnant with my Sister. As a child I remember him talking about wanting another Z. In the early 1990's he finally bought a 1988 300zx black, and then in 1995 he bought a 1990 300zx blue. He loved these cars. For some reason I could never figure out he sold the 1990 (which I loved) for a Corvette. And then he sold the 1988.

But after several years of being apart from these great cars or a second mid life crisis in 2006 he bought his current 2004 350z. But we always talked about finding that perfect early 240z. This past summer I was searching the web and came across this awsome 1972 240z. I called my Dad and before I knew it we were on a plane to Florida to look at this car. As soon as I got in this car I finally knew what he always talked about a chill ran down my body and I could tell from the look on my Dad's face that we were not going back to RI without this car. And I was right. The car is currently undergoing a flushing of the motor so it will be in perfect running condition this spring.

My Dad's love for these cars has rubbed off on me and hope to soon also purchase an early 90's 300zx as I loved the one he once owned, or an early 80's 280zx. We both look forward to meeting you all this spring and chatting about these great cars. I will post pic soon thanks[/b]

Welcome to CTZCC Bobby and Dad!

You'll find us a very active and friendly bunch of Z fanatics. There's lots of experts who can spend hours discussing the history of the Z, repairs and how to find the right replacement parts.

Once Z's get in your blood, you will never be able to shake the desire to own one. Thanks for sharing you and your Dad's story. You'll find that every Z owner has a similiar story.

Hope to meet you soon!

Hi, Bobby and Bob, Rick here.
Welcome to the Club from a relative newcomer. We were members of
every Z Club we could find back in the 70's, but just got "drug" out of a
30-year hibernation last Aug 10. I can relate to your Dad; I didn't have
a clue about how to turn on a computer till we got "rediscovered," which
accounts for our not knowing anything about the resurgence of interest
in the Z Cars in the interim.

I have to ask: your '72 wouldn't be the orange car that was owned by a
Nissan dealer in Tampa and was on display in his showroom for several
years? I forgot when and where I saw it for sale, but it sure did look
like a decent car. BTW what are the VIN# and production date? There
are a few of us in the Club that are into that kind of thing.

Hi Bobby! I just today finished a Welcome letter to you, telling you some background info about the CTZCC. I'm really happy to have you among us and I know you're going to enjoy meeting the Z crew!

Your story put a smile on my face. :D My friend, you have been BITTEN by the Z bug. Your dad has been infected since he was young ~ it never washes off and you can expect to remain infected for the remainder of your lifetime. Recovery is not expected. There is no known cure.

The good thing is you are now surrounded by about 500 other casualties of the same affliction. We all try to help each other live with this blessed addiction.

We will be on stand-by, waiting for pictures of your Zs. It will be a pleasure to meet you and your dad this spring ~ we will expect you to arrive in two Zs! I'm really anxious to zee that '72 240.

This website stays active all year-round, so we will expect to hear from you now in each of the Forums. You're a member, so you're our Z brother. Please get comfortable in here and share your Z experiences, questions and advice with the rest of us. Our members range from novice first-Z owners, to lifetime career Z mechanics. Surely there's a chair for you and Bob somewhere around our table!

RI has some of our most-active members. You will probably meet them before you meet the rest of us. Our Club is very friendly and helpful, so never be afraid to ask a question about these carz.

Looking fwd to meeting you in person, and zeeing those carz!

Z ya ~
Frank T

Great story and welcome to the club! Yeah where is Paul Mackin? And as we all know the only possible cure for Z fever is to buy a Z. :D

I don't mean to get argumentative, Mike, but I think that rather than
curing the "illness," buying a Z only intensifies it-- makes it chronic.
Ask me how I know. I can tell you it lasts at least 40 years.

Ask Paul M, Jimbo F, Tom W, Mike E (I'm sure I'm missing some).
Now and then Tom WaZ tries a European antidote and finds that useless.
Big Mike tries the Zero Balance trick and still shows up at everything.
Pauly tries to take them apart in hopes of finding a solution or remedy.
Jimbo gets the "Just One More" syndrome but finds it recurs ceaselessly.
Pat B is a case study of chronic Z-Itis in its earlier stages.

I'll bet many of you can add to the above list!

Wooowww! What a beauty. WHERE's THE RUST???

This Z will bring back loads of memories for us old-timers; there was a time back in the 70s when they all looked this good. The chrome looks perfect too, doesn't it?

The build plate inside the driver's door will give you all the info you need. The VIN, of course, should match the same number on the wheel well data plate, the dashboard VIN plate and the firewall VIN just above the brake booster.

I can't zee the dashboard from here ~ how many cracks does it have?
Automatic? Standard? A/C?

Dang, this makes me want to take a ride in my own 240 now!

Frank

Its a standard,no A/C so we will be sweating this summer lol. The chrome is ok there is minor pitting which we plan on fixing, and some rubbers and seals need replacing. I am having the hardest time finding the window squegee for the outside under the chrome trim. They need replacing they are all cracked.

Also any suggestion for a replacement exhaust it hasent been changed since 1978.
