I WAS OUT LOOKING FOR A CAR FOR MY 17 YEAR OLD. THERE WAS A DEALERSHIP IN STRATFORD AND THERE IT WAS A 1982 280 ZX TURBO. SO I CALLED UP MY WIFE AND SAID MATT DOESNT REALLY HAVE TO DRIVE ANOTHER CAR . HE CAN DRIVE MY TRUCK AND WE WILL DRIVE THE 280 ON WEEKENDS. WHEN I GOT HOME OF COURSE THERE WAS A SMALL WAR WITH HIM , BUT HE WAS YOUNG AND GOT OVER IT. THAT WAS ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO. I STARTED WORKING ON IT ABOUT 5 YEARS .I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD TAKE THIS LONG BUT IF YOU START LOOKING FOR RUST YOU WILL DEFINITELY FIND IT IN THESE CARS. MAYBE I WILL FINALLY GET PAINT ON IT .

The old 280ZX turbo cars were viscous-fast back in the day, and they are sure hard to pass up today! Now that Matt's old enough to buy his own Z, has he forgiven you for keeping this one for yrslf?

You're right about the rust ~ it was (is) a constant problem for each model of these carz. RUST NEVER SLEEPS. But once defeated (as in a quality restoration job), new coatings such as Rhino-Liner are now available to prevent rust from returning. (I will probably catch some criticism for saying it that way  )

I'm trying to match you up with any of the 9 new-joins I've received this month, but you haven't left me enough info to determine which one you are. Even if I had a first name or a location, I could determine which application your new screen name matched. We got three 280s this month, so you could either be one of those, OR, you haven't joined our Club yet?

On our Homepage, if you press the Big Red Button you'll see 20 seconds of CONFIDENTIAL information we need, to make you our newest Z Brother. We safeguard your personal info and never share it or put you on any mailing list. We're free, we're fun, and we're friendly.

If you haven't joined us yet, please do! If you're one of the recent joins, maybe you could offer a first name so I could know which one you are. Sorry ~ we have about 500 members now and this gets confusing sometimes!

Anyway, the 280zx is a very popular car in this Club (62 others, besides yours), so you should find partz and advice readily available. Paint is the LAST thing you ever have to worry about on a Z in this Club! For us, it's far more important that it be safe to drive and enjoyable. Looking fwd to meeting you!

Frank Thomas

Ten-four on "Just Another Crazy Z Guy."
Been one myself for 40 years now, and it just gets worse with time.
The neat thing is that GIRLS and WOMEN can be Crazy Z Guys, too.
