Greetings! I just joined the forum having become the proud owner of a '78 280Z. This car has not been properly restored and I'm planning on a full tear down and rebuild over the next couple of years. The exterior is clean with a little rust in the usual areas. The underside is badly in need of new frame rails and front wheel wells.

I just replaced the brake booster and master cylinder and am looking forward to getting my hands dirty with this car.

If I did this right, there should be a picture attached. I welcome any comments and/or ideas from anyone with restoration experience.

Paco from Easton.

MY GOSH! That looks JUST like my old 240Z did, back in the '70s! (Except for the bumpers, of course). I INVENTED THAT COLOR (Metalflake Copper) FOR THE Z CAR, the year before Datsun released it on the 280Z! My 1970 240Z was that color for about 6 months before Datsun decided to use it, too!

WELCOME, Paco! Very happy to have you aboard with us. I understand you just got this car recently, and I already picture you deeply involved with it over the winter, getting it ready for Spring.

If it's registered and drivable, PLEASE let us zee it at our two remaining events this year ~ our Annual Fall Outing in Darien and final Club meeting in Danbury ~ both in October.

We recommend frame rails from BAD DOG parts. John is our member and you can link up to him at BADDOGPARTS.com. His rails are heavier than you actually need, but you'll never have to change them again.

Your Z looks sweet, and I hope to zee it often at our Club functions. Even if you can't drive it yet, please come and meet with us and have some Z fun and good conversation.

Incidentally, you're not just a Forum user now ~ I received your application this week and you have already been added to our Membership Rolls. You're a full-fledged member of this great Club.
I have to look on the map now to find Easton!

Great to have you with us!

Thanks for the feedback. The car is indeed driveable (I just have to finish bleeding the brakes). I'm looking forward to the next event in October.
