:D Kenny Casalonova Purchased from Bob Sharp this 1979 280ZX driven by Paul Newman. I just purchased the car from Kenny. The car is just about completely restored to C Production rules of SCCA in 1979. Gotti wheels and all.
I hold the A Production Record at Lime Rock back in the 70's. I met PL Newman in the early 70's. Pl needed some help with that TR6 in D Production in stopping at the end of his races. I was a Greenwood Corvette parts dealer(backdoor of GM). US Navy F14's had braking problems on carriers. ( Grumman/ Dow)
Pl/Skip/F14/Dow Chemical/GM helps X-Britishleyl Newman owned D-Prod racecar win the RUNNOFFS at Road Atlanta in 1976. SKIP

P.S. looking for Shawn Smith PLN's crew chief and where is his mother Maggie Smith buried. Thanks Skip Panzarella

Hi Skip ~ welcome aboard! Just got your membership application this week and sent you off a Welcome letter.

I know about you! You blasted around the country with a 427 Corvette for about a decade, smashing lap records at several tracks. You took home quite a few A/Production trophies over the years. I hope you still find time to race these days. The old Cobras are all worn out by now!

Your new ZX car has quite a history, too. Our Club's Executive Advoisor, Bob Sharp, will probably have quite a few stories to tell you about the car.

Bob's original 240Z, Sam Posey's old 240Z, and now PLN's old ZX car are all part of this Club! How cool is that? 8) Several of the old SBR and BRE cars from the 70s and 80s have been on the block recently. I wonder what's going on, to suddenly make them so available?

Glad to have you with us. We have a very interesting membership in this Club, many who have raced during the past 30 years or so, and nearly a doZen who are still racing today. I hope you bump into some familiar names.

Shawn Smith is not on our membership rolls, but you're likely to find someone in here who knows him.

Hey everyone ~ say hello to our newest Z brother, Skip!

Frank

Welcome Skip. I love the 280zx, but to have one all done up in a classic race package, and once driven by Paul Newman, that is awsome. :D I hope to see this next year at one of the many shows around this area. This club puts on 2 official ones, then there is the meetings, fun runs and other events that can look like a car show as well. "Enjoy the Ride"

:D Hello to Bob Sharp, one heck of a driver. I herd you were at the shop. Jim said "you thought the car never looked so good." Thanks for the compliment. Bob do you know where Maggie Smith is burried? Pl's personal secretary and long time friend, Shawn is her son. Anyone have an idea of his location.
The pics i tried to download said file was to big. HELPPPPPPPPPPP !
I need some help in downloading the pics. Skip macs3333@yahoo.com

Hi Skip.

I don't know you and still I hate you already  You're one lucky guy.
You have a piece of history there, and from what I can see a lot better than the last Davy Crockett's axe I saw on e-bay :P
Could you please take some time to take pictures of the drive-train. I need info on the suspension set-up. Up front and rear camber setting options.
Few peoples know about the Z around here (most think it's a rally car, it's a lot more than that) but NOBODY knows a thing on the 280ZX!!!!

Merci in advance, Boomer
