Hi Rick, Stephen asked, if I had restored the car myself and I answered him: no, I had guys helping me and they did a great job. Unfortunately I'm not a "nut runner" and a better driver..
:D
Stephen is member of the CTZCC and joined the monthly meeting two weeks ago in North Haven. He is a german, living and working in the US. I was surprised and glad to meet him there.

Ach, Ja!

Unbelievable - I've got another award for my Z at the Concorso d'eleganza Schwetzingen which is the top class classic car event in Germany. The Z was priced for best design from 1961 through 1970. That's a complete surprise.

Hey the guyz here love the Z!

Oh my! What a FANTASTIC collection of automobiles!

Thor, you should be very proud of your accomplishment. Your wonderful 240Z fit right in with the rest of those classic cars. CONGRATULATIONS my friend!

Congratulationz Thor!
Gorgeous cars in a beautiful setting.
I'm hoping there were beautiful women as well, but with these cars stealing the limelight...maybe no one noticed!

Thor

Part of your front license plate is 240...is that coincidence?

Well, I saw one heartstopping beauty standing near the Toyota 2000GT

Today I had the unique pleasure of talking with Thor and Gabi on SKYPE. It was my first experience with this wonderful method and it certainly won't be my last.

Thor tells me Gabi simply fell in love with the tiny Toyota 2000 and now wants one of her own. At $300,000 I think she might have at least her first grey hair before she parks one in her driveway. Thor did buy her a little diecast model of the car, anyway, which she proudly displayed on SKYPE.

Thor's 240Z is winning awards each time he shows it in Germany. Everyone there simply loves the car and there are so very few of them over there, not many people have ever seen a real one in their own lifetime.

I did notice a later 240 parked near Thor's Z at the car show, with California plates. Maybe it belonged to a US Serviceman stationed there? It still has the early tail lights ~ maybe it's a '72? I think the rear hatch script is non-American issue.

Carl Beck, are there any stats available to tell us how many 240Zs got sent to Germany back in the day?

Frank

PS: I can't believe there was a VERITAS at that show!!! I last saw one when I was maybe 8 or 9. It came here to race at Watkins Glen and was beaten by a Cunningham and an Allard. The Veritas had raced at LeMans and done quite well in its class there. I think they only ever made three models, and very few of each.

Hi Al,

RA - means "Rastatt", thats a town and the administrative district here (HH is for Hamburg; K for Cologne, M for Munich and so on).
I - I had to choose an "I", otherwise I would have got a bigger plate that would not fit at the car. A Compromise.
Why do we need a letter between "RA" and "240"? Ask the administration and you won't get an answer.
240 - the lincence plate should have at least one detail that matches the car. Double digit numbers are only for motorcycles. Exception: you have a job at the administration.
H - you get a H when your car is more than 30 years old and if it's widely original (less tax rate)
"Z 240" - it's taken (don't know who...)
Problem: RA-Z 240 H does not fit on the size of plate I have at the rear.

Usually rear plates must have horizontal format. I needed a extra permission for mine.

Means it's a red tape with licence plates here. Cost me circa three days.

Thor
