WOW! What a perfectly beautiful little car! like a baby Z, maybe.

We here in the USA got very few Silvias, so I have never seen one. When Thor told me about this car I had to read about it. It is handmade, very high quality, and very, very rare. (Even fewer of these than the 507 BMW. Goertz was involved with both these cars, I think).

I am glad you bought it, but I can understand Gabi not wanting to turn your garage into a museum

This looks like the perfect personal coupe. Just looking at it, one can see good balance and probably good performance. I have to read more about the engine to understand it.

It looks like it is in excellent condition, Thor! If we come over there, can we have a ride in it?

Frank

The Silvia Coupe (CSP311) arrived last Sunday. We will pick it up on Saturday. That's exciting! Pics will follow.

Interestingly enough one of the biggest reasons the Silvia was never sold in the USA was that it was deemed TOO SMALL for American drivers! I remember reading somewhere that Bob Sharp himself told Nissan this after seeing the car at the NY Auto Show in about 1965.

Please correct me if I am wrong Bob!

Bob might have said it, but I was still busy jumping out of airplanes and
killing people for a living in 1965. Had I been with Bob that early, I
would have definitely argued the point with him. Because it seems to
be about the same size as the other Datsun models of that era, and
probably bigger than the 1500 and 1600 roadsters that Bob was being
so successful with at that point in time!

BTW Frank, you would have had to outbid me for it, had I known of it.

Rick, about the last thing I want is to get into a wage war with you!

It's a beautiful little car though, and a bit of Datsun history. It makes me wonder why it was not more successful? I agree about the siZe of it ~ it's sort of a Roadster with a coupe hardtop.

I had to look one of these up when Thor first told us about it. I had never seen a real one (still haven't, actually!).

I expect Thor to give us an honest driving report when they get "Silvie" on the road. It should be interesting.

Frank

Yes Sir, an act of honor. I'm afraid this will not happen within next two years. The owner Marco thinks he will need that time for restoration. I went for a short spin in the car yesterday and you know how tall I am. I fitted behind the steering!
