kool always nice to find a new Z forum. I'm a member of about 3 or 4 other Z forums (same user name).

I am currently in the process of restoring my 1970 240Z. Its the first Z car i have ever owned.

Yo Logan1 (didn't catch a first name......)!

:o Restore what????? Looks right fine 8) (that's how we say "mighty good" in TX) from here!!!!! Obviously you're a lot closer to it than I/we are :( ..........

Whatcha got for a VIN? Based on a few features I can see, I would guess somewhere in the 1000-10000 range. (There are a few lovers of ye olde antique Z's in this Club and on this Site who would love to drool on your car  ...........

Hi Logan, glad to zee you in here.

I zee a number of interesting items on your '70. Are those ANSA exhausts I see poking out the back? And those 5-slots are what REALLY belong on a 1970 240Z (IMHO) 8) . They don't happen to be actual Magnesium, do they? I can't read the state on the plate, so I don't know if you're local or not. If you are, I would love to zee your car in person.
What VIN is it, please?

I have a small handful of 'spare' '70 parts (is there really any such thing?) so if you're missing anything plz contact me.

How long have you had that beauty?

LOL looks like in my excitement of finding a new Z forum i over looked the fact that you are a local forum for Connecticut and surrounding areas. Since i am in Tulsa, OK i suppose i don't really qualify to be on this forum. Thanx for the warm welcome guys n gals. I suppose i might as well go ahead and introduce myself.

Well My name is John and I'm 26yrs old. Now that i have been out of collage for a few years i was looking to buy a nice vintage European sports car. but being 6'5" tall i was finding it very hard to fit into anything i like; until i saw the Datsun 240Z. It looked a lot like a E-type and i fit into it with no problems. The fact that i paid $1800 for it was a big plus. The VIN for my car is 11154.

Well i am not sure as to what type of after market exhaust the car has; but it is 2 pipe all the way back from the headers. The guy i got the car form called the system Twice-pipe.
Yes the 5 slots are magnesium. Unfortunately since the 14" mags wont fit over my big brake kit upgrade I'll be replacing them with some 17" 2pc Zauber mesh wheels. I've had the car for a few months now and am slowly restoring it. I am hoping to be done by Christmas this year.

Some stuff about the car:

1970 240Z
4 Speed manual
Mileage: 78K
Interior: Black in decent condition
SU Round Top Carbs
Headers and Custom exhaust
Schneider Cams

Howdy again, John!
Rick and Kathy back atcha.......

Don't worry about a puny 1500 mi., that makes you almost a local. We have members from as far away as Australia and England. So all that means is that you can't make events as often as some can............

6'5", that ain't nothin', pardner! Back in the 70's I was in a Z Club that had a member 6'10", Bill Zuleski. He was good enough at basketball to go pro, but had weak ankles...... I remember asking him how a guy his size chose a 240-Z, and he also said that it was the only sports car he found that he could fit in comfortably!!!

If you're anywhere around Claremore (Tulsa area), Kathy and I would pop in on you sometime when we're out there visiting best friends who moved out there a couple of years ago...........

Well John, in the excitement of finding another Okie in here (I lived in Boswell, down in Chocktaw Cty), I forgot to mention that this is actually a whole CLUB, not just a forum!

We have over 300 members up here in our tiny state, with about 500 cars among us. We welcome folks from everywhere to join us, or just to participate in our discussions. We had one other Okie in here last year but we don't hear from him much anymore. Some of our members live as far away as Washington State, and two members are in Australia, making us an actual International Club!

You're welcome to either hang out with us or to actually join us. We're free! You have a very late 1970 car there (probably a November/Dec build date?) and you'll be needing some parts and advice from other very early 240Z owners. So you might as well stay and join us!

I'm very curious about your exhaust, and will be eventually asking you to measure them (inside diameter) to determine if they are the MSA Twice Pipes or if they might be the original ANSA system I used to have on my 240. If they are MSA Twice Pipes, someone has gone to the time and expense of twisting them from horizontal to vertical, like I did, to duplicate the old ANSA effect. If they actually ARE the ANSA pipes, you probably own the last true set of them left on the planet!

I saw your car has a few features which were 1971-issue, and so it might be titled as either a 1970 or 1971. On the driver's door build plate you will find the date of manufacture stamped into it. I also saw someone has upgraded you engine with an electric fan!.

Either way, you've found a nice example of a wonderful car, and YES! we stringbeans fit into them quite well!

Welcome John, nice Z you got goin there, looks sorta like my 72, white with slotted rims, and even have the same dash cover. Of course being a 70 is even better yet. Workin on the twice pipes as well. So far everyone only heard the open headers for now. Those rims also look wider than mine, which I should have, now that I'm putting on the VG flares. Well keep her goin, maybe in the future it can make it for our big show. :D

To be honest i know very little about this car. It has a manf date of 10/70. Also I am very interested in having someone identify this exhaust. So far none of the local Z owners have been able to help. The pipe OD is 2" coming back from the headers and the tips are 2.5"; each pipe has 2 glass packs on it. Below are a few pictures to help ID the system.
