Hi Everybody,

A lot has happened in the last few weeks. My son was baptized, work has been crazy, my boss sent me home to get tested for swine flu, and I have my car on the way to being almost completely disassembled at this point....

Seriously, I pulled the original L24/E88 engine out, I have my L24/E31 replacement standing by, I have a nice exhaust upgrade standing by and now I am going to focus on replacing all the bushings before reassembling everything.

Frank T and Clive have been a huge help. I can only imagine how many MORE stupid mistakes I would have made if they didn't help me out.

I will post some pics this weekend now that I have earned enough brownie points with the wife to work on my car again.

I hope that everybody is doing well out there in Z land!

Yayyy ~ you're alive! We thought you had won the PowerBall and bought an island somewhere.

I drove right past your neighborhood and Clive's, too, this past weekend, but didn't have addresses and forgot to take the phone numbers when I left for NJ and MD. Duh!

Got stuck in NJ cause some Memorial Day bike rally backed up or closed all the exits into NYS. You should have seen the traffic

We'll be looking forward to more pix of your progress, and Good On Ya' for baptiZing your son!

Z ya soon~
Frank T

Marc ~

I wanted to bump this Intro back up. I saw this Z very recently, and it's GORGEOUS! If I didn't have one just like it, I'd be jealous. I can't wait to zee you pull into a monthly meeting with it!

This will easily be totally completed by this year's Annual Z Car Show!

Bet you can't wait to drive it!

Frank

Yup! Mechanically it's perfect now. All you need are fenders and wheels, and you'll be ready to rock n roll.

Are you still thinking of painting it that psychedelic engine bay color?

Frank

I still can't make up my mind... The best idea I have heard so far is to paint the exterior a "normal" shade of blue. I will need to look at a few Zs up close and personal this season before I make a final decision.

Don't ask advice from Frank when trying to choose an appropriate shade
of blue; he's been trying to decide for 90 forevers. :? Or if you wish,
you and Frank can commiserate with each other, and each of you can
progress to the same degree you already have!

 Right.

I hate the color of my Z. I 'inherited' it this color when I bought it back last time. I have spent 3yrs making it mechanically sound and emptying that pesky bank account. The final modification I make to my Z will be changing that hideous blue to something more "Z-like".

I am leaning strongly toward asking Jim Kinsella to repaint it Pearlescent Pewter.

But I have to take a 2nd mortgage on the house first.

Marc's engine bay has a really wild, psychedelic blue paint, which he thought about using for the entire car. Photographs don't really show this paint off well ~ in the sunlight it's like nothing I've ever seen. If he actually painted the whole car that color, he'd cause accidents wherever he drove it.

Frank

Sounds fascinating, I gotta see this mo-sheen! Maybe I'll get some
"idears" for the '70 and for the 510 for when I go to re-do them. Jim
Kinsella-- who? where? Club member? Come to think of it, the #171
car needs a little paint work on the roof, too, from where somebody did
her evil at the 2009 show. If Jim is one of "our guys," I could person-
ally bring him a lot of work to do.

Not meaning to turn Marc's Post into another subject, but Jim Kinsella is a CTZCC member who does the most outstanding Z paint jobs I've ever seen. One of his most spectacular feats was painting Mike Winters' absolutely PERFECT deep-black Z which consistently wins Voters' Choice awards at our Z car shows. He painted it six years ago, and it STILL wins awards.

The problem for me is, Jim charges what he's worth, and he also does only a couple carz a year, privately, in his own paint booth. His work is magnificent and well worth the price, so I've been saving for three years now.

I figure I'll have enough saved up by the time I reach 70.

Frank
