Hello all, my name is Mark. I recently moved back to New York
this past June after spending 10 "winters" in Minnesota. Anyway
let me tell you all a little about my Zcar interests.

In 1977 after college I bought my 1st 1971 240z. It was dark
Datsun blue and all stock - had 42000miles on it and I drove it
only in the nice weather. At the time I lived ine Endwell, NY near
Binghamton which is about 1hr south of Syracuse, NY. Sold it in
1982 after the birth of our 1st daughter. I loved the car - but also
love my family - so priorities prevailed and it had to go.

23 years later (in 2005) - as my Daughters started to look for
their new cars, I began to take interests again in the Zcar. Hence
I bought a used 1973 Orange 240z and began the long restoration
process. Restored the mechnicals and interior so it was relaible
and safe - however the body needed a total make over. The
Datsun Orange paint must have been 20+ years old and very
faded. The frame, fenders and glass were all in very good shape.

In late 2006 - I came in contact with a friend in Oregon, and to
make the long story short - bought his 1973 240z - Green car.
The body was in terrific shape with the exterior totally repainted
in 1995-96 with Doger Viper Green; it did however leave the orginal
Datsun Silver color inside the engine compartment and interior.
Not my exact desire - but good enough for me to take the car where
I'd like to from a restoration standpoint as I completed the mechanical
restoration to my tastes and finish off the interior as well.

Anyway this spring (March 2008) I sold my Orange '73 240z to a guy in
Missouri near Kansas City who was interested in completing the body
restoration. I was glad to find it a good home! I began the move
process from Minnesota back to New York which forced me to accelerate
the restoration of my Green 240z which was for the most part finished
in early May 2008. Still a few things I'd like to resolve and improve on,
but for the most part I'm happy with it ad it's fun to drive.

This past week I met Mike Englehart - a current CTZCC member through
a fellow co-worker and he pointed me to this club. Many thanks to Mike
for the mentoring and guidence since I'm new to the area and relatively
new to the current Zcar restoration process!

Also thank you Ross for the warm welcome to the CTZCC in responding
to me inquiries and emails this past weekend. I look forward to meeting
you more Zcar enthusiasts.

I've included a few photos for reference with the last photo being of
my original 1971 240z in the same driveway as my currently owned
1973 240z, 30yrs later.

Mark! Welcome aboard and thanks for that GREAT introduction! Your pictures made me drool ~ what beautiful cars!

It figures that Mike Englehardt recruited you! (THANK YOU Mike!). Of all the people you could find to help you out in the Z car world, you probably located the best guy to ask! Mike is a cherished member who refuses to let the spirit of these great cars die.

I encourage you to mingle with the other great members in this club and exchange stories, parts, ideas and encouragement. Among our members we have the earliest-known 240Z in New England (now perfectly restored), daily-driver 240s, 260s and 280s, Jersey Joe's bone-stock extremely low-mile original survivor 240, John Kish's (ORIGINAL OWNER!) immaculate 1971, and about two dozen turbo cars of the middle-series years......and that's not even mentioning the 300-series cars!

Please see our Member Rides gallery and shake hands with the rest of the family! Thanks for joining us and we look forward to meeting you in person very soon!

Z Ya!

Membership Director

PS ~ (THANKS AGAIN, MIKE! YOU FOUND A GOOD ONE!)

Many thanks Frank T. for the warm welcome!
I am really exited about getting to see all the great
Zcars on Oct 18th as I'm sure it's a bit nostalgic
seeing those perfectly restored and in stock condition
cars and so many of them!

Take care and thanks again.

Welcome Mark, nice 240. I'm a New Yorker myself now living in a state so small it should be a city. I miss diving the country roads of upstate in my Z, what a beautiful place to drive a Z. Hopefully next year I'll tour N.Y. in my 240 and visit family in Binghamton and visit a Z friend or 2.

Hey Mark, welcome to the club, i'm Mike Englehardts partner in crime Tom Wasney. Haven't met you yet at the cruise ins but looking forward to the opportunity, that is a sweet looking Z, i kept telling Rif to join us in his ZX but so far he and his wife are no shows. We will all definitely meet up at the Fall outing at Ross' house.....

Mark,

Welcome, I was born and grew up just north of you in Wappingers Falls. I'm now in Groton CT and zipping around in my mostly stock Z32 NA. Looking forward to seeing your 240Z up close at the October Meet.

Keith

Thanks all for the welcome all and compliments on the 240z.

Mike C. - it was great to meet you and see your Z this past Thursday (10/2) at the cruise at work.

Tom W. - looking forward to meeting you on the 18th. Your Z looks terrific in the photo.

This past weekend my wife and I did some cruising up the Northway - Interstate 87N and saw some beautiful sites. The trees are starting to turn and really look great. Only dissapointment is that our fine days for cruising are numbered as the weather turns colder.

Anyway - hope on the 18th we have nice weather.

Mike C., Mike E. and Tom - we should consider meeting at Exit 13, RT84 in the Home Depot parking lot. If that can work for you all - we'll just need to agree on a time.

Take care - many thanks again.

Nice. I drive by Fishkill alot, even when a child, (still am,) and such a beautiful place. I just want to jump out of the car and go down to that river and fish, (if I was a fisherman,) but great scenic place. Nice pics.
