Hi and thank you for letting me join the club. I live in Mass., sorry!!! but there aren't any clubs there, I believe. I have had 3, 280z's in the last 12 yrs. I love them!! My problem is my 75' 280Z!!!....my windsheild wipers weren't working, and a mechanic "friend" of mine cut the power wire from the wiper motor, and ran a wire with a fuse in it directly to the fuse box, it worked for 2 mnths. like that , never cut wires like that, I guess? ..... I was coming home one night with the wiper wire not connected to the fuse box, 2 a.m, and 10 miles from home, all of a sudden the headlights went out, the dash went black, and all I could smell was electrical smoke. Must have been a power surge? or something.
I made it home, "THANK GOODNESS", went out the next morning and looked under the dash, and I could see was that the harness was fried!! The junction box where the harnesses all connect, in the passenger compartment was a mess!!! Melted plugs and wires!!! :x I had to replace the dash-engine harnesses, that I bought from a Z parts co. So, I'm assuming they are "good". I also bought a brand new fuel pump, and an ignition coil from Nissan..... I think I put it "ALL" back together the right way, but am not sure. I drew a diagram of how the harnesses connect at the junction box, but I can't find it!!! I don't know, if it is right???
My question is.....does anybody have or know where I can get access to a diagram of how they plug into the "box"? I also got a brain box, and ECU from EBAY, I don't know if they are good or not!! So, I'm stuck with a NON-running Z........if anybody could point me in the right direction to get it on the road again it would be greatly appreciated!! Sorry to bore you with my story!! Thanxx for reading.....am I wasting my time? It might be up for sale if anyone is interested.

Hey BigGar,
Welcome to the club! Sorry to hear of your electrical problems but I'm sure you'll get some good input from this group. Hopefully with the support you get from the club, you'll get that Z back up and running and hang onto it for awhile. If you haven't already done so, please register with us so that you receive e-mails on upcoming club events. It's free, easy and strictly confidential - just click on the "Join our Club" link on the home page (www/ctzcc.com). One last request: How about sharing your name with us? Thanks and good luck, Ross

Sorry forgot to mention my name..... Gary Williams. Hello to all my fellow Z'ers ....glad to know there is a group near where I live, that is into the preservation and restoration of these fun little cars. I posted my "problem" in the New Member section, is there a way to move it to Tech. Help? Thanxx in advance for feed back to my problem! Here's a pic. from Z car show in N.H. In 2000? I think? Mine's the one in primer! Alot of them were there at one time, right?

Gary Williams (BigGar)

Gary,
I just posted your write-up in the Tech Talk area. Responses may be a bit light this weekend as a lot of people are probably away. Regards, Ross

Gary, the NH was in 2003, I think I can see my blue 280zxt in the row behind and to the left of you. My hatch is open.

I will post a link to a site where you can download free Factory manuals (FSMs) in the tech section clone of this post.

Hi Gary,
I welcomed you in other forums where you posted.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for showing a primered car. Why? Because many dreamers attend Z car shows, and a primered Z lets a guy imagine what he would do to it if it was his own. Painted cars are good, of course, but they show what the owner feels the car should look like. A primered car lets the observer "paint" it any way he likes with his imagination.
I think that's probably why I saw so many primered hotrods from the 1950s and 60s when I was a kid. They were popular because every other kid's first response was, "WOW ~ that would look really good painted [fill in the blank]!"

QUESTION: If anybody in here helps you fix your "firejob", does he get to take your 280 for a spin?

Frank T
