Hi I'm Mike. I already know some of you but certainly not all. I bought my 82 280zx with a parts car as my first automotive project in 2004. I severely underestimated the amount of time required, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I merged my two cars into one good one, cut and welded in new sheet metal, and did the bodywork and paint in my backyard. I'm currently in the middle of a turbo swap (and still shopping for some parts!)

I met Greg this weekend at Limerock, and I already knew Phil from a different web site. The rest of you ... who's on the western side of CT?

Hi Mike! Nice Z! I'm really jealous of anyone who can do effective bodywork in their backyard or garage ~ I just never had that gene.

You might get up with Webmaster Jim Hagani; he has some turbo issues which you might have advice about.

Your Z came from two cars?? It looks factory....realy nice job (and I envy people who know how to post pictures on these forums!)

Z Ya later!
Frank

Mike,
Great pictures. Sorry there were not more Z's to keep you company at Lime Rock! Ross

Mike, looks like a fun day on Saturday. I was originally planning to attend, but there didn't seem to be too much interest among Z owners. How many parade laps did you get to take around the course? Did the Z get any attention from the Corvette and Porsche group??

Phil

Thanks guys for the compliments and welcome.

Phil, we only made two parade laps and they were low speed. I had the tires making some noise in the turns but otherwise it was rather calm. The skip barber school had cones set up for braking and apexes, which were fun to aim for. Everyone was disappointed that the track time was such a tease! The Z didn't draw much attention, but we talked with a few of the people. It seemed like most of the Corvette crowd knew each other already, so I made friends with the Porsche owners. All in all everyone we talked to was very friendly.

Mike, I think you may have got the last lap in on Lime Rock, before they close it this summer to repave it. Can't wait for the Fall SCCA Vintage season there! Spokes! Castrol! Internal Combustion and Wind in the Face!
