The sea is cold and rough but the APL Beijing is strong and mighty! Arrival day is December 11th. The freighter is fast. Thats fine!
How exciting!!
Besides: the ship seems to need some bodywork..... :o

How cool is THAT???

Our friend Thor has his own delivery system! Most of us struggle to find simple car trailers to get our Zs home!

One of those steel Connex boxes on the deck contains a beautiful Z car. I actually lived in one of those for 10 days in Vietnam, never thinking they could be used to transport wonderful Christmas presents long distances!

Just to show how much volume there is on that vessel: every one of
those ConEx containers is essentially a semitrailer box waiting to be
lifted onto a semitrailer chassis at the receiving port, for highway
transportation to destination.

I'm looking at that huge load again, but I don't see anything
securing those ConEx containers other than gravity. So I begin to
wonder what holds them in place when the ship starts rolling in a
high sea? ~Rick~

Rick, I asked this the container service.
They told me they would throw containers overboard when they have to stabilize the ship in rough sea. This don't happens on every tour, but sometimes it does.
But please don't worry: I have an insurance!
Last information: the freighter will arrive at Port of Rotterdam on Friday. Nothing is missing on board.....so far.

Thorsten,

This is probably not a good time to share this link with you. But since I'm certain that Carl has provided you with a first class 240Z, there will be no parallels with this amazing story.

About 2/3's of the way down there is a list of videos, most of which are simply amazing. The first documents the excitement that you must be experiencing now, but with totally different results I'm sure. I've included the link to the first video.

No ~ I think at the top of this page, with the first picture of the ship, he quoted today.

and YES!!! I am very anxious for Thor to finally get his hands on his new Z car. I doubt he'll be driving it in the German winters, but we'll have several weeks to hear all about it, anyway.

Credit is due, if I was stuck waiting on a car knowing it would spend multiple weeks jumping continents I would be a complete wreck by the time it showed up

Post subject:  Welcome to Europe!

Dear friends,
was on a business trip, so I can inform you but now.
The "APL Beijing" has arrived in Rotterdam on Friday on time. Unloading starts on Monday. The car will stay in the customs area for about four days. "CSI Germany" will deliver the car by truck here in "Baden-Württemberg" estimated next Friday or Saturday. Rotterdam - Ottersweier are circa 700 kilometers distance.
A lot of people here are looking forward excitedly. And for me: I'm feeling third time in my life like a father-to-be!!!
I keep you all informed!!

Thor
