Congratulations ONCE AGAIN to Mike "The Z Man" Tubiak, who entered this Club's 26,000th Post today!

Mike has earned this distinction before (22,000; 23,000; 26,000), due to his prolific contributions to our website.

These most recent 1,000 Posts were entered in just 35 days, demonstrating the continuing activity among the 500+ members of the CTZCC. That averages more than 28 Posts each day. (Zee what you're missing when you don't read the website?)

Each time we complete another 1,000 posts, it reminds me of how special this Club is. There are many larger Z clubs, and certainly many smaller ones. There are many older Z clubs than ours, and clubs from larger states. But our CT Z Car Club is absolutely unique in several ways. First, we are a real group of friends, who meet monthly and hold many many fun events together during the Z season. "Most of us know most of us" is quickly becoming a CTZCC slogan. We are dedicated to having fun together, and many good friendships have developed among our members.

But even when the Z season ends, or the weather keeps the classic Zs locked in the barn, our members remain in daily touch with each other on this website. For nearly the past three years, THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SINGLE DAY when we had "no posts" on the CTZCC website. :D

For a free club, that's almost more fun than we deserve!

Thanks Mike, for keeping the momentum up. Your daily (hourly!) contributions go a long way toward making the CTZCC what it is ~
the best Z Club we know of!

Mike's da man! I think it would basically be a tossup between Mike and
Frank every 1000 posts, except that Frank is disqualified due to being a
Club officer. The law of averages doesn't work every time, but it does
a good deal of the time. Say, what if some Club officer were to enter
an even-thousandth post? Would the XX,001st post get the prize?

BTW Frank, the reason I quoted the above portion of what you said is to
make a minor correction. There are VERY FEW Z clubs older than ours:
we were originally CONNECTICUT 240Z CLUB beginning in about 1971,
since that was the only type of Z extant at that time. With succeeding
models it evolved into other similar names-- I will have to dig a little to
remember what. Believe it or not, I still have a lot of the "archives;"
it might be fun to share those at some meeting or event. The only two
other clubs I specifically remember from that time frame were the New
England club which was based in Framingham, and Group Z from L.A.

Now ya got me to thinkin' again. NO FAIR!!!!!!!

Rick, I'm a relative new-comer here (< 4 yrs). We'll have to refer this Q to PreZident Ross for the very early beginnings of the CTZCC, which he formed. My understanding is that it evolved from the Bob Sharp Z Club of the early 1980s. Certainly some of our founding members belonged to Bob's club.

Answering your direct Q about an officer entering a 1,000th Post: that has happened several times (by accident). Nothing was awarded, and the officer got "scolded" off-screen for depriving a member of the recognition. I was so guilty myself once , as were Ross, Phil and Jim. Jim actually got noted because he was Member Number One and also entered our 24,000th entry, a Club milestone. But you're right ~ your Officers are justifiably ineligible for awards in the CTZCC. We intentionally try to shut up each time we approach another 1,000th Post, to zee which member gets the distinction that time.

During a recent Officers' Meeting, this subject was discussed. It was determined that the Club Kitty can no longer afford to award gifts to each 1,000th poster (especially since they are now occurring at such frequent intervals!)

But the recognition helps!

Frank

Well Mike, we actually ordered it during one of your previous 1,000th Post wins! It broke the bank but then we decided we couldn't afford to award priZes anymore. So in fairness, your Video Game Racing Seat has not even been unwrapped yet. It is being reserved for installation in the CTZCC Dream Garage Clubhouse when that gets established, for all to share and enjoy!

(We figured if we just gave it to you, you'd spend every waking hour "racing" Zs around the world's fastest circuits in 3D with Surround Sound turned full-up. Then we'd never hear from you again, you'd never make a meeting or event, and all the guyz would be hanging around your house, waiting for a turn).

Frank

Other than the fact that they center around the Z and exist in CT, there really is no direct connection between the current and former Z clubs. I started the "CTZCC" in 2005 and Todd Bennett of Bob Sharp Nissan in Wilton (now Bruce Bennett Nissan) started the "Bob Sharp Z Car Club" in 2000. I was an officer in that club. Prior to 2000, there were long stretches of years where no CT club existed. And going back further there was the "Bob Sharp Owners Club" and other area Z clubs that Rick is familar with and belonged to. But there is no direct lineage. Probably the only thing they all have in common is Bob Sharp!

Ross, didn't you used to meet another Z owner (Alan Brown, maybe?) for coffee once a month, which sparked your idea to form a club?

Yes, Allen Brown was also an Officer of the Bob Sharp Z Car Club. He and I met regularly for coffee on weekends during the heydey and after the demise of the Bob Sharp Z Car Club. I invited him to be an Officer of the CTZCC when we first formed but due to job, family and other commitments, he was not able to be active. I am still in touch with him and hope to resume my weekend coffee meetings!

Good memory Frank.

OF COURSE!!!! (((((*O <<(=head slap) Silly me.
ThankZ, Ross, the one I should have definitely remembered!
The most obvious one of all.
How could I forget BSR/DOC?
Which stood for "Bob Sharp Racing/ Datsun Owners Club."

As the name implies, the owner of any Datsun could join and partici-
pate, irrespective of which model. And many did, including many from
out of state-- some quite distant-- because of Bob's reputation and
fame. But most were from CT/MA/NY/NJ, that is, the ones who could
most easily attend meetings at the dealership and events at Lime Rock.

Obviously the Z Car enjoyed the preponderance, but there was a good
number of 510s, 1600 & 2L roadsters, 610s, and Li'l Hustlers as well.
Carl would have fit right in with his pretty 510 wagon, even if he didn't
own a single Z Car!

Every meeting featured a movie or slide show (usually racing-related,
of course); a display of some items from the famous BSR catalogue
(pictures somewhere on another thread); a talk by Mr. Sharp followed
by a Q&A session; and to some the biggest reason for attending, other
than Bob: a tour of the race car shop where those National Champion
C/P Z Cars, B/S 510s then 610s, etc. were either being built or being
REbuilt in preparation for an upcoming race. And in conjunction with
that, an opportunity to interact with the people who made it possible:
Bob and his Crew Chief the late Gene Crowe, Vinny Bedini, John (Jasen)
Jasensky, John (J.R.) Mitchell, and several others. Somebody please
help me with some more names if you can!

Well someplace in this website's very early Posts, there are photographs of some of those BSR meetings. The dealership parkinglot was full of old Datsun tin and Rick might recogniZe a few old faces (when they were young).

Here's a start, altho it's not what I was looking for:
