In our old database, we had two graphs which listed the 1969 cars. I personally feel the 500-or-so very early Zs are important enough to deserve that distinction, and I will ardently propose such a provision at our next officers' meeting.

In the immortal words of Bartles and Jaymes, "THANK YOU FOR YOUR
SUPPORT." You will note in my resubmission that the two Z Cars with
the lowest VIN numbers did not have a year entered. That is because
they are not only 1969 build dates, but also 1969 titles.

I know all about the confusion that existed back from late 1969 to late
1971 when trying to figure out how to title a Z Car. Remember, I was
around at the time. The Japanese way of doing business was that the
year of build equals the model year. Of course the American way of
doing business is to get the jump on the competition if possible, so,
especially at the dealerships who had Datsun as a secondary line, they
would be prone to assign a late-in-the-year production date car, the
following calendar year as the model year, just like their primary line.

That is why across the country, some of the first 587 or so Z Cars bear
1969 titles and others bear 1970. That is why you will find some Z
Cars titled 1971 with a VIN as low as 6000 +/-, and some titled 1970
with a VIN as high as 16000 +/-. The confusion really wasn't resolved
until the 1972 model year, and I'm not all that certain that it was fully
resolved even then.

Consequently, I will leave the space for the year open on those two
cars until the DMV or other competent authority directs me to change
my titles from the 1969's they are, to 1970's. The #06289 car is a no
brainer, being a 6/70 build. Unless we consider that some Detroit iron
has been introduced as early as Mar or Apr for the following year.

Rick, I simply consider your 1970 Z cars to be deserving of the title "1969". That distinguishes them from the others and, although they are 1970 model year cars, they were among the very few made during the 3-month 1969 pre-season. They are so few in number (you're very close to being right, if not dead-on) and so very desirable because of that, that it's somehow "wrong" not to make the distinction.
I'm very proud of my '70 Z car because it IS an early Z. But I would be so very much more proud of it if it had been made in 1969. And I'd let y'all know it without any hesitation, too.
Our new database does, in fact, have a slot for 1969 carz, and yours belong there.

And Doug, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Frank

Hi everyone ~ just bumping this Post up to the top of the page again, to remind you that we're still counting on you to update your CTZCC registration information.

Now that the holidays are past, we have a spare 2 minutes to revisit our individual info and make any changes since the last time we registered.

Remember, everything you give us is strictly confidential. We don't share your info with anyone, unless you specifically ask us to.

What we're after here is new contact info (if you've moved, or opened a different email address since you first joined), and most importantly, ANY CHANGES TO Z OWNERSHIP since you first joined. In other words, if you've bought, sold or traded Zs since you joined us, we want to know what you lost and gained.

We're not (not) interested in VIN numbers! That's very personal info and unless you own a very classic old Z (where low numbers really count), your VIN number is not needed. If you want to brag about your VIN because it's the FIRST or the LAST Z made in a certain year, feel free.

Our intent is to update our database so we know HOW MANY Zs we have, HOW MANY of EACH YEAR we have, and what VERY SPECIAL Zs we have.

We THINK we have at least one of each model Z ever made, from each year of production! But if you've sold your RHD Fairlady 2+2 or your convertible Z since you've joined us, we have lost those bragging rights (and I need to shut up about it).

So please (PLEASE) take a moment to hit the Big Red Button on the Homepage and re-register your current info. You will receive a brief acknowledgement, thanking you for your update.

With your help, we hope to have all this info databased by the end of January.

Thanx!

Frank T

One of your New Year's resolutions should be to update your information for our new database. If you haven't done so yet, please press the Big Red Button on our website's Homepage and catch us up to speed with your current Z info.

Our January Member Ride of the Month was choZen erroneously because we were working with the owner's old information. The car choZen no longer exists, and he has another which was not listed. That's just one example of how this info is important.

We're trying to determine how many Zs we have in the Club, and of which models. Only YOU can help us determine that information.

Please take 45 seconds today and send us your current information. It's just like 'joining' again, except that we know if you're already a member.

Thanks!

Frank
