Club Merger: I am extremely excited to announce that after months of deliberation and discussions, the CT Z Car Club will merge with another exciting local club - the Dodge Neon club of CT. The merged club will be known as the "CT Z & Dodge Neon Club" going forward. The President of the Dodge Neon club, Tom McLoughlin, had this to say: "This is a tremendous opportunity for both clubs to share common interests. Since being introduced, the Neon has led the way in practicality and fuel efficiency. We see this merger as the perfect marriage of economy and fun". Please be patient with us as we re-brand the CTZCC web-site and Z-related merchandise to include references to and photos of the Neon.

Nissan Planning 400Z: We have unofficial confirmation that Nissan will shortly announce the "400Z" for the 2012 production year. The 400Z is expected to be similar to the current 370Z, although four door and wagon options will be offerred for the first time. A Nissan insider who declined to give his name stated: "Nissan has long recognized that a segment of the population was underserved by the two-door model. When evaluating ideas for the next generation Z and given economic trends, Nissan felt it was important to cater to families and older segments of the population with four-door and wagon offerings". We will certainly keep you posted on any new developments!

First Generation Z's Found: You may have seen news reports of a freighter that was recently discovered beached on a remote and uninhabited south pacific island. The freighter, which departed Yokohama Japan in the Fall of 1969 had been loaded with a shipment of 125 1970 240 Z's direct from the factory. Nissan confirmed that the ship was thought to have been lost at sea after three weeks of search and rescue operations concluded in December of 1969. Despite the rusting and deteriorated condition of the freighter, the cars are in near-pristine condition as they had been individually crated before being loading in Yokohama. When asked what Nissan planned to do with the horde of vintage Z's, they responded that "each Z owners club would be allotted one car with the rest of the vehicles going to museums both back home in Japan and throughout the world". At our Fall Outing we plan to raffle the car allotted to us to one lucky member that has uploaded photos onto our Member Rides board.

First Annual Z & Dodge Neon Swap Meet: To celebrate the merger of our club with the Dodge Neon club of CT we will be holding our first annual swap meet to give each member of this newly formed mega club a chance to experience the thrills, performance and economy (in the case of the Neon) of each others cars. On Saturday, June 13th, Z owners will drop their keys into a bowl for owners of Neon's to pick from and vice versa. Once everyone has adjusted the seats, mirrors, and radios we will begin a 100 mile FUN RUN over winding country roads. This is shaping up to be a great event with every member of the Neon club indicating they will participate. Who knows - you may not want to give those keys back at the end of the ride! Immediately after the Fun Run, Neon owners will be allowed to temporarily remove certain parts from our Z's to check compatibility with the Neons. They have been told that many of the parts are interchangeable.

Dues: We have been forced to implement a "dues" structure for 2009 due to the worsening economy. I spent some of the club's money on a consultant who determined that dues should be calculated based upon the distance that you live from my home in Darien, CT. Some illustrative examples appear below:

Me: 0 miles = no dues (that's just the way the formula works)
Mike Englehardt: NY - 45 miles = $45/year plus NY surcharge of $50 (they're used to getting screwed in NY). Total of $95/year
Paul Mackin: RI - 135 miles = $135/year
Peter Altman: Australia - 7,488 miles = $7,488/year

Have a great day! Ross

Looks great Keith. For some reason, the Z folks don't seem too excited about the merger. The Neon folks on the other hand are drooling to get their hands on our Z's!!

It's a beauty. I especially like the customized air intake vents in the sides of the hood. Those Neon owners sure know how to supercharge these vehicles!

I was afraid if the Neon deal fell through we would have to accept the offer from the Yugo club .

Jim's right Ross ~ you're a dangerous man!

It's sad to see what four months of cabin fever can do to the human mind.

I'm looking forward to a collaboration to produce a high-performance, high-efficiency hybrid vehicle to be know as the Zeon!
