I remember this episode of the yellow 240Z automatic that was converted to a manual. I could not get to the you tube link you posted and found this link instead for those wishing to view it. I hope it works.

I'm thinking Robin Foote bought a 240Z which was showcased in one of these televiZed restoration shows? The show (or maybe it was a magazine?) poured a ton of money into rebuilding the car, then sold it at the end of the project.

Am I mis-remembering this?

Maybe you're remembering my Z, 1970 Datsun 240z #2483. I bought it
from Robin in 2013, it was the Classic Motorsports Magazine project car:
