A hollow, but well-fought victory

What the heck is she crying about? She at least gets to live awhile
longer. Here's another example of crying because she got caught and
sentenced, certainly not of remorse.

What's a crying shame is, that the maximum sentence is only 10 years.
They call it manslaughter with a motor vehicle. I call it murder with a
two-ton weapon when it occurs under the circumstances that it did.
The defense wants to use all kinds of excuses to get the sentence miti-
gated. I say mitigation is off the table; choices have consequences.

FWIW, ~Rick~

Here's a recent compilation of Laura's actual driving record:

http://www.projo.com/news/content/REALE ... a0098.html

The investigative reporter makes a good point in this article ~ because of the prior charges dropped against her (because she paid the fines), the last part of this report shows what a judge would see if he requested a print-out of her record.

*(I note this link no longer takes us to the then-current news of Reale's driving record. It apparently updates to current news each day. Sorry).

I will begin tomorrow 16May12, by remembering our friend Colin. It can't be two years already, can it?
I can still hear him laugh. I, for one, still miss him.

In the midst of our grief over the Sullivans, let us not forget Colin, 16May10.

If we've ever needed a reminder of how fragile and fleeting this life is, these past two years have served well to remind us. As so many of us like to say, "enjoy the ride". Our time together is short. Let us not take it for granted, and make the most of it while we can.

Frank

Thanks Frank for pointing out that today is the two year anniversary of the death of our member and friend, Colin Foote. You will always be remembered for who you were: a fine, intelligent, humorous and outstanding young man. We miss you Colin.

This will mark Laura Reale's second Christmas in prison. She earned that, and 7 more like it.

One day, the Foote family will have their son back forever. I wish we could give them that now.

I won't forget.

Good to see the heel marks worn in the grass in front of his bench. We can tell it gets used a lot.

Shortly after Colin's death, one of his shocked, grieving friends was quoted by the press; "Colin lived above the world". Appropriate description of Colin's attitude toward life, and appropriate to see that quote etched in memoriam. I think about Colin's fiancé Mallory occasionally, and wonder how she's doing today? They'd probably be married by now, with their first kid. Laura Reale stopped that. I can still get worked up over this mess.

For those of us who will be at ZCon on Thurs/08Aug, please spare a thought for Colin on that day. He would have turned 31 then, and would certainly have been there with us, proudly showing his 240Z. And smiling.

Someone should bring one of the Colin posters to the ZCon.

Almost daily. He strolled thru my thoughts on Thanksgiving.

Thought about him ystrdy, re-read my poem and pondered on Laura Reale's next Christmas in prison.

I suspect a lot of us think about Colin, and about Tommy Sullivan, very often. Holidays are for 'families' to gather around each other. Tom and Colin were our family members. So is Liam Dwyer, but thank God Liam is still among us.

Laura Reale, enjoy your 3rd consecutive Christmas in prison, and 4 more like it. We are still grieving for our friend Colin, who you needlessly took from us.
