So many of my customers ask us why do they fail?
This is a lengthy discuss that we can't always dedicate enough time to explain it fully.

This article is a great starting point but I'm not convinced it's nearly the complete answer. A little research on TT.net and you find newer style 740 injectors for the Z fail too. Are we to believe that Nissan and Nismo both couldn't get this problem figured over the entire production run of the cars?

My opinion is the reason for the Z injector failures isn't fully understood. I find it really, really hard to believe the electrical current or phases of the moon play a primary roll in these failures (although both may play a secondary role). Ethanol playing a significant role seems likely but the impact of ethanol was understood when these injectors started developing problems throughout the production run. I'm absolutely unconvinced that other cars' injectors which have also been subjected to ethanol for the same time are as prone to failure as the Z-cars.

In the end none of this matters since no one is willing to invest the time or money to definitively determine what's the real cause of the Z injector failure. All that matters is what we do with this reality, especially with regard to the early style injectors. Upgrading to newer injectors buys you some more time.
