I'm thinking of buying an 86t but the body is in pretty rough shape. Does anybody have an idea of how much all this would cost to repair? Just a ballpark figure...I want an idea of what I'd be getting into

Do it yrslf? The parts you can see would probably cost you less than $1,000.

It's the parts you CAN'T see which would break your bank.

It probably wouldn't pass inspection, which is why it's got Dealer plates on it now (they took it in on a trade, right?).

This car would cost WAY more to fix than it would be worth. Frank is right, multiply the rust you can see by 10 for the rust you cannot see. Without seeing it in person: new quarters, new rockers, new floors and frame rails, body work, paint.....$5000 (at least).

You'd be better off looking at Z's out west and driving it to CT or having it shipped. Better to start with a rust free car then have to deal with all that body work!

Z's are so incredibly cheap these days. Please don't do this to yourself. Spend another $1 - $2,000 and buy a Z without any rust!

Thanks for the input fellas i guess my search will continue.. I did purchase the car for $500 to use for parts so keep an eye out in the for sale thread if anyone wants anything!
