Fun videos! Looks like you had a blast. Do I zee an antenna on your car? Are you in touch with the pits, or listening to the Green Bay Packers spring training camp while you're driving?

I notice the THINK AND PATIENCE!!! sign ~ do you have opposite inclinations?

Good eye Frank. We have an in car radio to allow to driver to communicate with the pits; it helps with confidence when there are a couple of blind hills and the penalties for passing under yellow are pretty severe.

Regarding the patience, yea, it's really easy to focus your energy on the guy who just isn't letting you past and do something hasty. Since it's a 14.5 hr endurance race, just wait a few turns and motor on past him down the straight or in the braking zone.

Had another race a few weeks ago. Our act was better, but the car wasn't quite right. Fouled plugs from a worn out carb (fully leaned out, it's still rich and the floats were set at the same height) caused a misfire above 4k on Saturday. Despite the lack of power, we were as high as 17th and finished the first day in 19th out of 120 odd cars.

Saturday night was spent fixing a few problems:
-Exhaust hangers melted, so we used links of chain instead
-Replaced plugs with new ones
-Leaned out front carb so it was better
-Advanced timing a little
-Fixed clunking shock bushing
-Replaced left rear sway bar bushing

The last one proved to be a bad idea. The bushing was so bad that the sway bar wasn't actually doing anything on Day 1. Day 2, well, was a little dicey. Power was good, traction was not. I learned that despite best intentions, don't mix tire types front and rear (same category, different ages), and don't mess with the setup if it's driveable.

Check out this video. We were struggling with traction all the way through second gear, so we can't launch well, and our tires were older than most people, so we don't have good traction anywhere. Enough excuses...

Sunday didn't end as well as Sat. in that we struggled to keep the car facing the right way and wound up getting rear ended pretty hard with an hour to go. We'll return, stronger and faster next time.

In other news, our sister team, Dirty Penny Racing in their '79 Datsun 210 had a good weekend and were named the "True Winner" with the Index of Effluency award.

That looks like such great fun! Paul in RI has wanted to do this for years. Next to AutoCross and drags, it's really the cheapest form of racing you can get.

Very nice save, by the way! You look a little bored, then very busy, then back to being casual again.

It's funny that long before LeMons came around, the IT was the closest thing to it! I have heard numerous times that you never kept up with the bodywork if you ran a full door-banging IT season.

But obviously people spend a lot more on IT than LeMons cars.
