When Nissan routed the wiring harness thru two openings in the radiator bulkhead, they added chafe protection to the edge of each opening. By now, this edge guard has pretty much disappeared from most of our cars - if not, a resto effort usually takes care of the removal. Here are the steps I took to replace the edge guard.

First, I picked up some small dia. vacuum hose and some contact cement. I split the hose length-wise with a hobby knife.

Here is the naked edge before the fix.

I applied cement to the edge of the bulkhead opening and pressed the split tubing onto the metal edge. Attempts to get cement inside the tubing were not successful.

... and the completed right side opening. The contact cement ate into my black paint, some touch-up now called for.

It would have been nice if Nissan had installed an export / left-hand drive radiator bulkhead to place the large opening on the right side where the thick part of the harness comes thru. Oh well - at least it all goes back together!

Wiring harness back in place.

Jim, you're full of good ideas. And I really appreciate how you tag everything while working ~ we never know how long it will be until we get back to a job, do we?

Nice touch with the protective towels over the radiator brace, by the way.
If you keep this standard of work throughout your project, you're gonna end up with a 99-pt car.
