Hey Marc - Absolutely awesome!!! Beautiful job. You've got me salivating for my own startup day.

(PS ~ I really like that exhaust header!)

The header looks great Frank. Vinny did a great job getting it cleaned up and powder coated. Much obliged partner.

Eureka!!!! I am happy to report that my car got sorted out today by Vinny. After trying everything else a new coil did the trick!

Now my goal is to get the front panels back on and make it to the next (June) meeting! My car will be grungy on the outside + inside but sweet underneath the skin.

Anybody want to help out?

:D

YEEEEE-HAAAAA! :D You got your Z out of jail! What a wonderful way to start the Zeason! I saw what a great job Vinny did on it ~ if I didn't have one of my own, I'd be jealous!

I'd love to help you put the fenders back on (and figure out the headlamp wiring). Where will you be doing it? (I hope it isn't 80 miles from me  ).

Frank

Thanks Frank! The car is in Stratford, CT. That's close enough to you right?

For a chance to work on your Z? Stratford's fine. I have some things lined up for the very near future, but I'm sure we can work a day or two into my schedule soon.

Technically, you could drive it like that! :D (not legally, tho).

Did you intend to do an electrical upgrade too? I don't recall if Vinny did one for you or not. It's easiest now (with the front off the car), if you want to install one.

A huge thanks to Frank for helping me put the car back together! I am happy one of us knew what they were doing.

Here's a quick walk around video.

I took the Z out for a ride before and after. The car cooks!

This was fun! It's always nice to spend a day with a Z buddy, putting a 240 back together. i haven't seen Marc in too long (he hides in NY, doing family things), so we had a lot to catch up on.

Appropriately, Marc did most of the work on his own Z. That's important, because that's how an owner bonds with his Z (and learns about it). We spent a few hours putting all the panels and lights back on the car, then I got to drive it! It sounds WONDERFUL and behaves as it should.

After becoming completely familiar with (and spoiled by) the early 1970 lightweight Z, I could feel the difference in Marc's, but not by much. Each year after 1970, the Zs became a few hundred pounds heavier and, altho they had the same sheer speed as the early cars, they weren't quite as "crisp" under full acceleration. Marc's 240 is just as quick in the steering and braking departments, feels more solid than mine, and sounds too great to describe. (By 1973, an old 240 would out-perform a showroom-new Z, which led to the 260 and later 280Z). Vinny did an excellent job (as always) on making this a solid, tight, safe machine. I actually called him later that night and complimented him on the job.

Thank you, Marc, for letting me spend an afternoon with you and your Z. It was a fun experience worth sharing. Don't forget to find those bolts for your grille, and the fuses for those few lights which refused to work for us.

Now there's NO EXCUSE for missing our meetings and events!
You've got a great, solid Z to share with us!

Frank

Congratulations!

Thanks Frank! I really appreciate the help. I learned a lot working with you. Thanks for all the tests you threw my way...

And yes you scared me enough to make me not drive the car too much nor on the highway until I get the fuses and lights all sorted out!

Gorgeous set of rims and believe me, I'm tempted. The only thing
that bothers me is the maintenance factor, since I have a set of what
we called "honeycomb" mags on the 510 which are somewhat similar.

However, if anyone knows of any product or process to keep them
neat and clean, minimizing the maintenance factor (preferably some
kind of dirt/road grime/brake dust repellent that would shed stuff
before it ever stuck on there), that would certainly help me or any
other prospective buyer when making our decision.
