Like everyone here I decided to redo my 1970 240Z front suspension this summer as things were getting a bit 'loose'. It's been about 7 years since I replaced my tie-rods and I decided to go with a set of Spicer/Raybestos tie rods #4011172 from their "Professional Grade" line.

After installing them I went to grease them but found that they weren't even tapped for grease fittings (!?!) I don't think it was an oversight since they are from their more expensive line... I think Spicer has simply dumped the concept of zerk fittings and made them grease-sealed like like all the cars on the market today. 'bout time...these should hopefully last for years...good job Spicer.

Maybe this is old news but it was new to me...I like surprises like this.

The tie-rod ends I recently purchased from MSA have Z fittings, whereas the new ball joints are sealed units. Looks like we have choices of Z fittings or sealed units on tie-rid ends. Always good to have choices! :wink:

Depends on who makes them, and what year they were made. I got 2 ball joints for my 83 and one had a fitting the other didn't, but not one little worry there, it's all good. They were MOOG, and I get alot of stuff from NAPA because I get 40% off. so that's almost 2 for one deal.
