Hello, can anyone tell me or email me a picture of a 88 zx sending unit. I took out the one in my Z and found a 2" metal(loose) rod inside the gas tank and have no idea were it came from! ' Please help" bxjoshuax@aol.com

Sounds like one of the fuel pump nozzle rods they used to have at gas stations in the 1980s. The rod sensed when the tank was full and shut the pump nozzle off. They were chintzy things and seldom worked right, resulting in the nozzle "snapping" off each time you pumped about a shotglass full of fuel thru it. Then you either moved to another pump or spent the remainder of the day/night standing there filling your tank 10cc at a time.

People used to mess with these rods a lot to get them to work right. Many of them broke under the abuse and subsequently fell into the next gas tank that arrived at that pump.
