One of our newest members, Jim Arnett from Texas, suggested we incorporate a new Discussion Forum for members who want to exchange RESTORATION AND REPAIR TIPS. Your Club Officers thought about this for nearly 10 seconds, looked at each other and chimed, "What a great idea!"

We know there are many members in the CTZCC who have pulled these cars down to the bare metal and rebuilt them step by step, and I can think of some of them who are in that process as I write this.

NOBODY can go thru such an experience without learning some little trick or shortcut which others can benefit from.

HERE IS WHERE YOU SHARE THAT INFO!

Even fewer folks can pull the car apart without wondering, "How the heck do I put that back in there?"

HERE IS WHERE YOU ASK THAT QUESTION!

Great idea, Jim ~ thanks to you from all of us.

I'll start this Forum with a little on-side kick, just to get the ball in play ~

I recently discovered that Dry-Erase Markers are wonderful for making bright, clear TEMPORARY marks on painted Z surfaces. I used them to measure equal distances on both doors while mounting racing mirrors. Wipes right off when you're done!

Simple little ideas like this should help our Brothers who are struggling valiantly to keep these wonderful old (and new!) Z cars roadworthy.

Feel free to add (or ASK) information.

Ready, set, go.

Frank

Hey Guy's! It's been a while since i have written anything. I'm in the process of putting the dash back in my car. I showed you the process, by which i restored a badly cracked dash, in an earlier article.

Well, i can now tell you that after about 30 hours of work, the dash looks much better, however not as good as brand new. It is very difficult to seal the cracks, and retain the correct shape of the dash.

The materials i used were !) Silicon sealer w/ a hardner to fill the voids. 2) A vinyl repair kit, which i showed pictures of in the earlier thread. This kit comes with 8 different colors of liquid vinyl, and various graining papers, to match the texture, of your dash. 3) Sem texture spray. and Finally i used Sem's Honda bumper black.

All in all not a perfect repair, however certainly passable.

Happily restoring my 70 240

Dan Linquist :P
