Got this speedy reply from Bill Noon about PLN's available ZX:

Good morning Frank,

Patrick, the owner of our company and my principal was kind enough to forward me your two inquiries on the Newman / Sharp 300ZX.

First on behalf of Patrick and myself, I want to thank you for kindly taking the time and patience to contact us.

Paul and I became friends late in his life after an introduction by a mutual friend, Wayne Jackson who drove with Paul Frequently during the last twenty years of his life.

Paul and I shared a 917 Porsche at the Rennsport event in Lime Rock and this is where I first learned about his 300ZX.

The car was with Paul until about 6 months before he passed away. I got it from Wayne Jackson who got it directly from Paul.

In a moment, I will email you full notes and history as well as better quality inspection photos.

The chassis was and remains the original "spec" certified IMSA / Trans Am "Chassis Dynamics" tube frame as original purchased new by Sharp and Newman over the winter of 1987/88. These were the spec legal chassis used by most of the racers and suitably and legally modified to allow the fitting of engines and bodywork from the supplied manufacturers.

Cosmetically, this car is as last raced by Sharp and Newman in the 1989 Season. Mechanically the car is fresh with all work and preservation being done by Hudson Historics back East.

The official asking price is $395,000. There are no extra significant spares with the car but just about anything needed can be had for next to nothing as the components were never expensive in period and even less today.

What do you have in mind and how may we further assist you?

Warm regards,

Bill Noon

This Paul Newman winner has been sold. It went to Europe and will be actively raced in events around the continent *(watch out, Boomer!).

Sales price was very close to the expected amount.
