EXCELLENT CAR!

I have had the extreme personal pleasure of driving this daily-driver 240Z for about 10 days during last year's Fall Outing picnic event, and I remain amazed at all the professional detail Bryan has poured into the car.

Literally every mechanically-important system has been upgraded to very high standards ~ the ultimate example of what a 240Z can be made to do, and still remain "streetable" and practical. Steering, brakes, suspension, wheels, tires, exhaust, clutch, gearbox, differential, engine, cooling system, electronics, and aerodynamics have all been upgraded to the 90% level. Each system compliments the next in a well-balanced overall package.

The cammed L28 and round-top SUs have been mated and tweaked to the top levels of usable performance, which still leave flexible streetability and reliability. His 5-spd T-10 and 4.11:1 R-200 make the car a rocket. The whole car has been lowered, the suspension is "just right" for serious dicing and the steering is tight, sharp, and obedient. The overall effect is that you're driving a 220+hp Go Kart! The Toyota 4x4 truck brakes can pull your shoulders out of their sockets in the 4-point restraint system.

I've seen a lot of nice 240s, but consider this to be the ultimate example of what the early lightweight Z car should be all about. I consider Bryan Little's 240Z to be "JUST RIGHT" in every important feature ~ the very best an early S30 is capable of becoming, without being a race car.

If you ever get the honor of driving this car, START OFF IN SECOND GEAR!

Congratulations, Bryan! Your MROTM recognition is well deserved.
(But your TRUE reward is just being able to drive that wonderful Z!)

To get an idea of the degree of performance and attention to detail Bryan puts into each system of his Z, spend some time on his website, THE DATSUN Z GARAGE. That link appears in the left margin of our Homepage.

Frank

Thanks for the nod of approval guys...aren't these cars more fun than is normally possible? I think so.

I'll be in New Canaan unless something odd happens. I just performed some mystery tuning on my SU carbs and the Z is running fine....

Very nice Z indeed, had it for a screen saver for awile. Don't you like fixing something, and you don't even know what you did.

I've heard nothing but superlatives about Bryan's Z.

Personally, I've made his "Z Garage" articles my bibles during the current rebuild of my 1973 240Z. I'd be thrilled when I'm done, if my Z is even half of what Bryan's acheived with his.

Congrats, Bryan, and thanks for all the good advice and tips. Invaluable.

Jake
