I took my cam cover to S&M Custom Cycles 439 Washington Ave North Haven (203-234-6047) to be polished. Owner Steve Kabuta hand-polished it and did such an outstanding job, I took him another one! The cover from my parts car came out good enough to give as a Christmas gift and the original cover from my 1970 240Z looks great back on the car.

Steve says cycle business is slower during the winter, so he has a little time on his hands which he could use to polish cam covers for the whole Club! He took his time and used seven wheels on my cover to make it shine like chrome. Steve will charge you fairly, depending on how groaty your cover is. The general norm is about $100. I'm now looking at my SUs and picturing them polished too. (Bryan Little's hand-polished engine has motivated me!).

If you call Steve, he will arrange a time to polish your aluminum parts. He will become busy as soon as the weather breaks and the bikes come back out, but he can do a Winter Special for the CTZCC members now.

As long as your car is just sitting there with the charger on the battery anyway, why not give it something nice to wear next spring?
Call S&M Custom Cycles and ask Steve to polish your cam cover. Tell him you heard it here. Here's a picture to show what a great job he does.

Hey Frank,
This is a great reference. I think I will get this done for my '78. Thanks for the post and picture! Ross
