I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder purchased new in '05 at Girard Nissan in Groton which is about 1/4 mile from my house.

Last week I noticed some paint flaking off from inside the rain gutter on my passenger side roof. Flaked off leaving behind a clean primer color just within the gutter. No corrosion and no impact or scraping. Car is past the 3 year warranty and has 56K miles on it.

Showed it to the Service Manager at Girard and he suggested I call 1-800-NISSAN1. I described the problem to the Customer Service Rep. He said he would pass it to a Regional Rep. One Day later I heard from the Regional Rep. Friday last week the Service Manager told me to bring the car in for a roof re-paint and offered an enterprise rental. No Hassel Good Will Warranty. My Pathfinder is being repaired as I type.

I thought the response from the Manufacuter was excellent. I have purchased 3 new Nissan's since 1993 (two from the old Bob Sharp while in Fairfield County) and have owned about 4 used ones including my Z, and use Nissan Service Centers for major repairs. All of which they asked me about during setting up this repair. Nissan has a loyal customer in me.

So if you are looking for a new car you can trust NISSAN. This was the first problem I have had with any of my NISSAN's. Stop by NISSAN Darian and check the cars out. I know you'll get the same quality service from them and NISSAN corporate that I received if you ever have a problem with a recent purchase that is not your fault.

I apologize to the Big Three in Detroit, I'll have to stay a NISSAN Guy.

Keith, compare your experience with the one my wife and I have experienced from Chrysler. My wife loves her 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, but it has burned a quart of oil every 1,000 miles since the day we bought it. The dealer placed us on a monitored oil consumption program after which we were told that the engine would have to consume a quart every 500 miles to be considered an issue. No leaks, no visible smoke... The first time I noticed there was an issue was when I heard her drive up the driveway when I was standing outide. The car sounded like a diesel. It was down almost 3 quarts and the low oil lamp never came on. The way I look at it, it changes it's own oil!!

Some follow up on my Pathfinder issues. Good news. I just received a check for $885 from Nissan NA for a radiator replacement last year. They found them to be faulty and issued a recall up to 75,000 miles. I filled out the claim with my service receipt 2 weeks ago and got the check today.

Nissan also warrantied my fuel sender recently ($400+) while I was just over an extended warranty for that item.

I am very satisfied with level of customer service from Nissan North America and my local dealer, Girard Nissan.

Anyone with 2005+ Pathfinder should visit the Nissan consumer affairs website if you have had a radiator failure or fuel sender failure.

This would be why I don't own dodge,gm or toyota!!
I agree that Nissan stands behind their cars. And they built our Z's so that makes them #1 in my book. :D
