While I'd prefer to reward DARIEN NISSAN's loyalty to us by buying my parts only from them, sometimes the 70-mile round trip (@ $4.05/gal) eats up the discount they give me, so I have to settle for something more central. I've bought some hard-to-find parts for the '70 Z Car at Wallingford's BARABARINO Nissan Parts Dept. The only guy I will ask for there is DOMINIC (203)-265-5099, who seems to know the Z cars pretty well. He advised me there is another guy restoring a classic Z in that area (but won't give up his name), so I'm competing with a Phantom for the few Series-1 parts NISSAN has left. Dominic was able to locate odd stuff for my '70, including plastic interior rivets (which he had shipped o'nite from a NISSAN dealer in New Mexico for me), but could not locate a UniSyn (got that elsewhere) or the plastic hold-down clamps for the inspection lids (simply NOBODY makes them anymore). The Parts Dept is hidden at the end of a warehouse across the road from the Barbarino sales showroom on the main street in Wallingford. But do yrslf a favor and ask for Dominic, since he seems to be the only guy there who really knows the Z cars. If we used a Rating System in this forum, I'd give them about a 6/10, but then again, I'm a hard marker. Z Ya later/ Frank PS ~ this forum is a REALLY good idea! |
