This was confusing to me at first. I thought that an anniversary Z just came out last year. Then I realized it was a 'Heritage Edition' that was released in 2019: https://www.nissanusa.com/interactivebr ... index.html

Either way, they're both basically unique sticker packages. And while I feel they're both OK, I also get the sense that these special edition cars are just a way of stalling while the next Z car is developed (assuming there will be one).

I do like that the Anniversary symbol is similar to that of my '80 Anniversary car though :)

I’m all for special editions but really Nissan needs to rethink the 370 and not just with decals.
The car is over 10 years old with no significant changes including the 2013 facelift. Hopefully Nissan will introduce a retro car like Ford, Dodge, and Chevy did and refine it as time goes on. Or an all new design would also be welcome.
Also going back to a I6 would be supercool with a turbocharger or supercharger to make it competitive.

Or a 300hp inline 6 with a DOHC hemispherical head, igniters and direct fuel injection. People would be buying the engines just to put them into their old S30s.

Or an L-series 3.0L 300hp inline 6 with a DOHC hemispherical head, igniters and direct fuel injection. People would be buying the engines just to put them into their old S30s.

I saw this in the Nissan showroom in Tokyo. What a lost opportunity. The Z has been about cutting edge auto design and technology. If Nissan was not totally dysfunctional this could have been the new Z launch for the 50 year anniversary.

Simply put, it's CRAP.

The 370 platform (350 in there also) is ANCIENT. For Nissan to commemorate the historic 50th anniversary of their most famous car ever using this retread with a STICKER PACKAGE is downright embarrassing. How many famous cars can claim that the 40th AND 50th anniversary models are the SAME CAR!!!

I was fully intending to purchase a 50th anniversary Z to pair with my original 1970 Z, been dreaming about it for years. I of course assumed that it would be a refreshed model, especially after the 370Z has dragged on for so many years. NOT! So instead I will turn my attention to the cars I first fell in love with, I have acquired an original owner 1978 280Z that has been in storage since 1981. 31k mile and in great shape, but every system including the drivetrain will have to be gone through. That's OK, I'm thinking that the 1978 Z will be worth a lot more in the long run than that stickered up 50th anniversary Z.

You blew it Nissan, but your lack of vision will save me some money in the long run.

John if you buy or sell even one more z car, NYS will demand you get a used car dealer license.

True, all you said about a 50th anniversary opportunity sadly missed. Instead of introducing an advance-engineered new model, they have made a token memorial out of an old model. It's no more of an anniversary model than the Indy 500 Pace Car is; instead of inventing a new one, they just stuck decals on an old one. :?

I'm with John T on this. I've never been very impressed by any "anniversary edition" cars. Stickers and bling just don't cut it. Nissan should take some advice from this guy on the video (see link below) and come up with something that will really "Pop" as a tribute to the original Z. Check out his designs.

He should work for Nissan.
Does Nissan still use the L-6 series engines in any of their current vehicles?

There are enough Z-starving people in the world today who would buy an updated S-30, that Nissan really should think about doing one. The Heritage cars showed how hungry we were for the old original Zs, so a modern version of the same body style would be a smash hit.
