The S-30 manages to look beautiful from any angle, in any stage of completion. |

One thing I notice is in the shot of the rear, the large roundish holes in the rear valence (for the bumper shocks) have been shaved. The other mounting holes remain, so I'm guessing maybe a 240z or euro bumper conversion is planned. We'll see. |

This Z is sure to be a "stunner" again. I can't help but think this is somewhat of a torture for you Jay. Thanks for the update! |

It is John, strangely. I made peace with the decision to sell, it needed to happen. I'm really happy to be in touch occasionally with the new owner, and I love that he loves the car as much as I do. He's obviously very serious about fixing her up....it doesn't appear that he's cutting any corners. I don't believe I could have asked for a better person to hand over the keys to. He's a real car guy. In the end she's going to be gorgeous, and no doubt well out of my price range. But she didn't become a parts car, and isn't rotting in a field someplace. Her story continues. That's pretty cool. Jay |

And we can't see around corners, Jay. The future might someday reunite you with your car, as it did with me. Retirement is a wonderful thing; for me it's the first time in my life when I've had both time and money simultaneously. Kids gone, overhead costs reduced, bills get paid whether you get up in the morning or not. Your 260 might wait for you. |

That is true Frank, my life has definitely changed a few times at least in ways I couldn't have foreseen even a few weeks prior. Several unplanned career changes come to mind, sometimes the chips just fall into place without the slightest help. It happens. Jay |

Right?? Sadly I don't know too much. I asked for build specifics out of curiosity but he didn't really share anything. It's a rebuilt L26 that is obviously complete with carburetors and ignition. Would love to know how it's built, and by whom. It's not a necessary thing as my engine had received a very thorough rebuild (stock) that included machining every surface (all 3 on the cylinder head, top and bottom of block), a +1mm overbore with new Pistons and rings, .010/.010 grind and polish on the crank, all new valves, retainers, locks, and hardened seats. New cam, timing, oil pump, water pump, etc....everything. It's numbers matching and I gave him the paperwork from the machine shop so he knew what was done, by whom, and when. It has only traveled about 2,800 miles since then. I hope this new engine (high performance or stock) is built with the same level of quality and attention to detail. I think if the inside is as nice as the outside he will be in good shape. I guess in a worse case scenario he still has my engine to use. I do understand why he's decided to swap the engine out though, as he had it sitting there anyway...and it does look really good. Were I in his shoes I'd consider doing the same. Either way, the engine work begins this weekend and will include a full repaint and detailing of the engine bay I'm told. I'm more than a little excited!! Jay |
