The 1984 300ZX was the 50th Anniversary Datsun/Nissan that was the only year vehicle that sported both name tags on the rear deck lid. Thanks for history lesson clarification.

During a car show/meet a spectator insisted that he owned a 1980 280Z(ZX?). I thought I learned from this club forum that the 280z (or was it 280zx) was a one year production vehicle. Were there 280z's and 280zx's? I thought that 1983 was the only year for the 280z,zx. Please clarify this for me. Thank you. Howard J |

The 280z was a 4-year production, 1975-1978 inclusive. The 280ZX was released in 1978 using the same 280z engine block. It continued until 1983, inclusive, during which time certain models were turbocharged. That was also the time the car name swapped from Datsun back to Nissan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_S130 It was the 260z which was a single-year production (1974). Bear in mind this information only applies to US sales; other countries had completely different sales agendas. |
