OK im getting stir crazy, I'm ready for spring. This year I am upgrading my 260z with a 5 speed and 3.90 r180 rear...... I'm dying to see what that does for my acceleration and responsiveness.

What are your favorite mods?

Altho I swapped out my L24 for an over-bored L28 with a complex E88 head and 5spd, my very favorite mod ever, hands down, no contest, was swapping those dead rubber grommets for neoprene. Made my car ride and steer like a little gokart.
Best Z money I ever spent.

I think the best upgrade I've enjoyed was switching to a straight fuel rail with aftermarket FPR and Fuel pump. Those combined with rebuilding the Intake/exhaust manifolds made the car run very smooth and much easier to diagnose when things weren't.

Frank, are you referring to urethane suspension bushings.... Or something else?

BFG, are you running carburetors or F.I.?

They are actually polyurethane.

True. I installed a few polyurethane bushings in mine, and replaced the others with rubber. I was hesitant to do them all in polyurethane as I didn't know how harsh the ride would be or how well they'd hold up over time.

The consensus seems to be they work well. The ones I replaced with polyurethane are the differential mounts, rear inner control arm, sway bar mounts and endlinks, and steering rack mounts. I'd like to do the steering coupler as well.

All the rest I replaced with new OEM style.

I will say I'm very happy with the ride on the street and it handles quite well. I don't really know what it was like before however. You'd know allot better than me Frank.

So the bushings ARE what you were referring to correct? :D

Yessir. Back in the 1970s some of us dropped the front sway bar and wrapped a swath of house carpet around the ends before tightening up the end caps as hard as the capscrews would let us. That gave us tight, precise steering until the carpet wore through. The poly bushings work much better.

Best upgrades… to my 240Z… hummm
This is a Sports/GT for me - not a race car:
1. BRE front spook - a must have on a 240Z at highway speeds.
. Wider wheels and Fresh Tires (from 4.5x14 to 5.5x14)
. Bilstein Shocks
. Larger dia. front anti-sway bar
. Acura Integra Seats
. the center console arm rest with - yes - Cup Holders
. Electronic Ignition
. Replaced the battery cables with high quality stranded copper OO with gold plated terminals.(the end of corrosion)
. Optima Red Top (holds a charge forever, had it for over 8 years now).

But that’s just me..

That sounds like a nice setup Carl. Did the front swaybar make a noticeable difference in handling for you? Any plans to swap the rear one out for a larger one as well?
