The first year for metallic bronZe was indeed 1977, released in late-1976. How do I know that? Because upon moving my 1970 240-Z from Hawaii to NC in the summer of 1976, I had it repainted from 901 Silver to Metalflake copper, because I'd always wanted to have a car that color. It was unique among all Zs and I was SO proud for my inventive (non-Z) choice! The very next year they released the 280Z in "metallic bronze" which was SO close to my metalflake copper you could hardly tell the difference unless they were parked together. I had a totally unique 240-Z for a few weeks, then Datsun stole my idea |

Stealing your idea, for a really cool color, was a bummer ... BUT it is the greatest form of flattery. So do you feel flattered yet? lol. |
