Our Texas member Jim Arnett's award-winning 1970 240Z #HLS30-15320 has been featured in the upcoming issue of Z Car Club Magazine! :D

Jim joined us years ago and showed us pictures of his one-owner 1970 240, which he intended to disassemble and restore. He created our current RESTORATION AND REPAIR TIPS forum so he could feed us continuous pictures of his step-by-step restoration process. The project took about 4 years and he walked us thru each element of his work, describing exactly what he was doing. Each of us learned a lot during the process, and there were some good laughs and lots of friendly discussion in the process. jim did much of the work by hand in his own garage.

Etc, etc...the entries continue until the car was done. His hands-on tutelage gave us a very-active forum and inspired a lot of DIY projects among CTZCC members.

Well, the car got finished *just* in time to be shown at the 2015 ZCon. In it's very first official entry into any judged competition, it swept the table of every award, trophy or recognition it was eligible to compete for! It got an astounding 298/300 points ( ) won Gold Cup and Best of Show and a wheelbarrow full of other designations and trophies, and is now ineligible for further judging for awhile, just because it wouldn't be fair to compare it to other 240s in the near future. It's recogniZed as one of the best, if not Z best, examples of a restored HLS30 Zcar in the country.

Art Singer got ahold of Jim and squeeZed a story out of him, accompanied by lots of excellent photos of this world-class 240Z. It appears in this upcoming issue of ZCCM, available in paper form or on-line.

Do NOT miss the exciting article about this phenomenal car!
Thanks (yet again) to Jim Arnett for allowing the CTZCC to claim this award-winning classic Z as one of "ours". We are very proud to have it parked in our stable!

To clarify Frank's enthusiastic comments, Art did not contact me for an article. I wrote the story of my car and sent it to him for consideration. He liked it and had me do a fresh photo shoot for the magazine.

Thanks again Frank for all your kind words. Here's a pic of the loot I made off with - well, almost. The Gold Cup award is custom made for each recipient (plus a plaque), has not yet arrived - perhaps by Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving to all in CTZCC.

Jim

Gee, Jim, you're not proud or anything, are ya?

If it wouldn't be out of line, what do you feel would be an honest value estimate ("replacement cost") for a 298/300-point 1970 240Z?

(That's an indirect Yankee way of asking, "What's your car worth, Jim?" 8) )

Hey Jim,

I've been away lately but just got around to reading the latest ZCCM issue. What a wonderful story! You should be very proud of the work you have done and the honors it has achieved!

Congratulations!

Ross

Yeah, it took a couple of weeks to lose the silly grin!

As to valuation, check the current condition 1 numbers at Hagerty - just sayin'.
