You must admit, it was the ultimate road trip. It had elements of Route-66, Easy Rider and Lassie all mixed together.

Probably most of us want to make such trips, but few of us can ever arrange to have the time and money available at a moment when we don't have other life obligations standing in the way. His perfect-storm of opportunity was enviable, indeed. AND, he had a willing buddy to accompany him without complaint! :D

Just got a copy of RoadKill and Jason has about a dozen pages devoted to his trip :D

Rick M, Carl B and Jimbo F also got some footage in the article. Jason expressed his gratitude to the CTZCC for helping him out and putting him and Bernie up in a motel (one of only 9 motel stays during his 50 day trip) and feeding him. A waitress up in North Haven paid for his piZZa after hearing his story; Jason saved the note she wrote and made her nationally famous by having it printed in the article

Bernie has become a national star, known as the bear-chasing dog who saved his master from a bad night. Jason has been honored as the brave knight who would not be deterred by heavy weather, mosquitoes, broken car parts, limited funds or marauding bears. But the star of the trip was his 45 yr old Fairlady Z, formerly the possession of the Breedlove family (yes, THOSE hi-speed Breedloves), which is now nationally (and justifiably) famous. Too bad Art Singer didn't jump on this story when he had the chance. It took Hot Rod Magazine to make this Z trip famous.

A good trip, a great car, and an excellent article. Buy a bunch of RoadKill magazines with this trip in them, Jason ~ your grandkids will cluster around your Fairlady someday and thrill to this story.
