To a Z owner, getting a "Thumbs-Up" from strangers along the road is the equivalent of a dog getting a skritch behind the ear by a visitor.

I got a lot of 'skritches' all the way to Rochester and back this past weekend. It makes the little hassles of owning and driving a classic car worthwhile.

Be sure to thumbs-up any classic car you meet along the roadway. The owner can probably use it.

Must have gotten 25 or more myself . . . returned every one of them.

:D

Without a doubt the guy I got the most-spectacular Thumbs Up from was a Porsche driver. I was in the left lane at/abt 70mph and saw him coming up on me at a terrible pace from about 1/2 mile back. I got into the middle lane and signaled to him to pass on my left.
He came screaming up to me at well over 100 and stood on the brakes, falling back so we were door-to-door. Over the wind noise I couldn't hear everything he was yelling but he was gesticulating wildly with both hands off the wheel like an Italian opera, smiling and pointing at my Z. I heard only, "...love that.." and "...to die for..." and "...(only?) car I fear...(maybe?)" and his blonde rider was devouring my Z with both eyes. He pumped both fists into the air and yelled "YEAHHH!" I smiled and gave him a thumb and a double beep and he roared off into the distance again.
