What's the best way to clean a bunch of large dirty engine parts simultaneously? What chemicals do machine shop guys use? Can you recommend a machine shop local to Hartford or Connecticut?

I've researched http://www.hotsy.com/ and http://www.safety-kleen.com/ but I'm just not familiar with all this chemical stuff. Plus, how do you get rid of the toxic chemical when you're done?
