Yutaka Katayama turns 105 today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISTER K! Mister K was PreZident of Datsun USA when the Z was released in 1969, and he fought several internal corporate battles to bring us the car we love today. If you own a Z car today, it's largely due to Mister K's personal efforts Back in the Day. His motto is "Love cars, love people, love life". Five years ago we (CTZCC) surprised Mr K on his 100th birthday with the news that we had found Lucky#13, the first 240Z he sent to the USA. I think that was a very appropriate 100th birthday present. Those of us able to do so should drive our Z a bit today in salute to Mr. K ~ the weather here in CT is perfect for a Z-spin. Frank |
