Hi guys,

I just picked up a 56k mile, all original everything, automatic early 260Z that has been sitting in a Pa garage since 86. The original owner parked it in the garage way back when and just forgot about it. He was saying something about always having a problem with the choke. Yep, still has the flat tops on it :) After getting it home, it looks like the worst part of the car is the engine. Apparently a rodent had made it's way up the exhaust and called the number 4 cylinder home. As for now I'm thinking this one will NOT be getting all of the bells and whistles that my other cars had recieved. This one will get some upgrades but nothing extravigant. First on the list is to get her running!

Anyone have a motor they want to get rid of? :)

Joe

Congratulations on your "barn find" - an early car still has the attractive bumpers. My initial feeling is that a 56k miles engine still has another 200-300k miles worth of life in it. How did a rodent in the exhaust damage your engine to the point of replacement?

When the rodent follows the exhaust all the way up to the head and enters the combustion chamber through the open exhaust valve and urinates and defecates on top of the piston for who knows how many years, rings, piston tops and cylinder walls will corrode to a point that make the bottom end unusable. I could try to bore the cylinders and see if I could get it round again but why? Good used motors are all over the place. Hell I even have 1 or 2 short blocks sitting in the shed!

Joe,
I just so happen to have a running 260 motor and it is in NY, closer than coming all the way to CT. PM me if interested...

And congrats on the find!
