Well the stripes were applied today. Some issues along the way but beleive it or not, the originals went on without a problem. The condition they were in for being 35 years old is amazing. They look brand-new and I'm so happy I can say that they are original.

I'll post more pictures soon. Picking up the car later today. As you can tell, I'm in "iphone picture hell". I even tried rotating this picture on my mac before uploading it - same result. But when I view this same thread on my iphone, the picture appears correct!

Thanks Mike!

Well due to the rain in RI, I am picking up the Black Pearl in the morning. Imagine me pacing my living room with a handful of cigars. Haven't been this excited since... Well not in awhile!

Well the car now has all THREE components of the optional "Special Appearance Package". The package, which I'm told was shipped inside the Z, included a) rear metal louvers, b) dual metal racing mirrors and c) the stripe kit. These three items combined with the Black Pearl metallic paint comprised a "complete" Black Pearl.

My car came with the original paint and the louvers. I eventually found a set of NOS OEM mirrors, which I had installed a few years ago. With the installation of the stripe-kit, my car and my quest is now complete!

That being said, I installed the original aluminum wheels that were offerred as an option. They were new in the box and perfect, except that they are very dull. I know from my other set that these wheels can be polished to look almost like chrome. My detailer told me that they were not polishing well because they have a coating on them. So I still want to find a place that is a professional wheel repair / polisher shop.

Pictures of brand-new "dull" wheels (mounted to tire) compared to used shiny wheels attached.
