HI Guys:
Sorry to have been away from this Thread for so long - just too many other things going on right now.

It took me an hour to catch up - but I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes, and at other times I was simply amazed at the creativity displayed and the fun everyone is having.

Rick - I am so glad you joined the group in this endeavor - I simply love your Paper Z. I would never have thought of expanding that project to the extent you have - just Wonderful. {I have two books of Paper Cars - that I bought from Japan years ago. My Daughter put one together... but I haven't started the first one yet"}.

John - Firestone Radials!!! I was working for an Independent Firestone Dealer when the Firestone 500's were Recalled. What A Mess - it was great for some people! Then I watched with great dismay as the New and Improved 721's were recalled. Long Story about that Independent Firestone Dealer - I'll have to write about it some time - suffice to say that before he was an Independent Dealer - he had been Senior VP of Firestone Inc. Amazing man to say the least and I believe that if he had been made President of Firestone - Bridgestone would never have been able to buy them out..

Anyway - Great Club Project. Keep at it...

FWIW,
Carl B.

Good Morning Guys

Enough of this foolishness trying to motorize a Paper Z, while it was not a complete failure, the fixed front wheels/tires, the wobbly rears, and the top speed leave a lot to be desired. Time to get back to a little modeling.

This week I spent a few hours hingeing the hatch and detailing the cargo area of the paper Z. I am still amazed everything fits, no problem getting around the motor. The fabrication of the wheel wells and strut towers where the hardest, simulating wood on the steering wheel and shift knob a piece of cake. LOL, I even flocked the cargo deck to simulate carpet. What next I have no idea, maybe pop the hood.

I almost ruined the green paint job when painting the inside of the body. I forgot it's just porous paper and the black paint started to bleed thru to the good side. I quit just in time, the rear quarter panels and roof got stained just a hair, the rear panel below the tail lights and exhaust got totally ruined. Phew It could have been so much worse.

Rick

Way COOL Rick! I notice the water temp is a bit high, might want to address that before you get caught out somewhere.

Hey thanks guys, when I pop the hood I will check the water in the radiator, maybe rap on the thermostat housing. Darn thing always runs hot, might be the water pump again. That old metal fan has got to go its too heavy. Talk to you soon!

Rick

Aw crud, looks like I didn't get to that overheating problem in time. There is all sorts of dirty white smoke blowing out the exhaust pipe.

I tried to warn you!
I'm sensitive to this because after all the work installing a new engine,
the current radiator won't handle the load of the extra grunt. I have a new radiator coming in early next week. Don't know if I'll have time to add 2 10" electric fans to the model roadster.
I did add hood pins and safety cables along with metal snaps for the soft top along the back edge of the passenger compartment. I'll post some pix soon as I add the metal snaps to the windshield header, (my wife said "where's the ones above the windshield), after I'd packed it in. Never ends.

We'd like to z the old thermostat once you remove it Rick, just in the interest of transparency.

Too bad there appears to be only 2 model builders in this contest. I'd hoped there would be a fierce competition. Looks like we're in the clear Rick.
Jack

Is that to be construed as a threat? Bro!
How do you get those little emotions over there anyway?
Jack
